meddow @ Jul 3rd 2006 1:41PM
looking forward to Lord of the Rings RTS on 360 :D
Indiana Jones @ Jul 3rd 2006 1:43PM
that lord of the rings came came out 2 months ago for the the pc
naiberson @ Jul 3rd 2006 1:52PM
@Indiana Jones
And Civ4 came out for the PC 6+ months ago and is just now coming out for the Mac. I'm picking that one up in addition to BFME2.
The delay actualy bodes well in the case of BFME2. Would you prefer they just throw out a sloppy port?
meddow @ Jul 3rd 2006 2:01PM
And points and xbox live sweeten the deal :D

I'd prefer the better controls of a PC, especially for an RTS.

chris... that sounds like an interesting game that is coming out this week... do you know what the title of it is and what system it will eb for?
KingOfGods @ Jul 3rd 2006 2:35PM
uum....what does that have to do with new game releases?
GSI @ Jul 3rd 2006 2:49PM
Dang...it's a slow week for games. I'm still a little 'unsure' about BFME2 being on a console b/c RTS games usually require a mouse to be any real fun since you need to move around quick.

"I'd prefer the better controls of a PC, especially for an RTS."
This is a bold statement as I dont think the demo has even been put on Marketplace yet. In anycase, the big thing about this RTS is supposedly the first one to actually have intuitive RTS controls for a console.
We'll see. I just want to check out the demo.

Before Halo many folks thought playing FPS on a console was a Joke. But MS got the controller right (triggers and proper placement of the d-pad and left stick) and found a good controller scheme to make FPS work. Since then there have been a butt load of FPS games for the Xbox and now for the 360 as well.
Hopefully this game will do the same for the 360 making it the defacto console for RTS games just as it is the defacto console for FPS.
And there is one other huge reason why RTS games have a much better chance of fairing better this go around...and thats High Def. Playing an RTS on a Standard television was just painfull (Commandos for Xbox). You just can't see well enough and your map is very limited in size. With an HDTV you will be able to see a much larger section of the Map which makes a world of difference.
If this game is successfull, the 360 will definately be seeing Command and Conquer 3 from EA as well. And how long before Blizzard realizes huge market potential that was never there before.
This is truly a next-gen sort of thing. RTS just could not be technically done well previously. Not as jaw dropping as the latest Graphics effects and AI...but truly next gen nevertheless.

Welcome to the club. Negative starts are like tooth braces; at first they bother you but once you get use to them they are kind of cool. They can mean you are a pain in the butt, but also that you said something they didn’t agree with. Take my -start for example, I got it because I said something negative about the wii. Honestly at first I hated it. Now I want one and can't wait for it to come out. Just dont beat yourself to death over it; just remember that this is a blog, and they can do wherever they want and there is nothing you can do about it. You are always entitle to give your opinion but always run the risk of someone at joystiq not liking it and giving you a negative start. Also, once you get a -start no matter what you say or if you kiss ass they will not take it off, trust me I tried. So, simply keep giving your honest opinion about it. That's what blogging it's all about.

sputnik I think your forgetting a little games consoles called the N64 but dont worry an agent from the Carrington Institute will be along shortley to "educate" you on the situation.
As for BFME2 I wouldnt buy it, it still uses the horrid Sage engine and is made by EA those facts alone are enough not to (but you will probably see what I mean when you play heh) and when compared to other games in the genre (Dawn of War, Rome:Total war) its competant but not great, I expect it to go over well with the console crowd as they lack "uber micro" :P
Honestly if you want to play RTS games just buy the WC3 battlechest for your PC, the custom maps and game modes alone will give you more entertainment than BFME2.
Intangible 360 @ Jul 3rd 2006 6:31PM
I already preordered LOTR: BFMEII, I hate elitist snobs who refuse to even give it a chance. Some PC gamers hate losing every edge they've got, I guess.
Serious Kriss @ Jul 3rd 2006 7:52PM
BfME2 is an average RTS at best considering PC standards. Still, I'm curious to see how the console version will fare in sales. The license will certainly help, but console gamers never seemed really interested in RTS games...
