Pokemon could inspire new DS Lite colors, in Japan [update 1]

Following last week's revelation that DS Lite will begin shipping in pink later this month (in Japan) comes rumor that the upcoming Pokemon Pearl/Diamond game will usher in two additional colors.

According to an ad scanned from a Japanese publication, 'pearl' (even lighter blue) and 'diamond' (gold tinted) colored DS Lite models will be manufactured to celebrate the release of the new Pokemon titles -- no word yet on a game-bundled package. For now, expect availability to be limited to Japan.

Update: According to TotalPokemon, via Go Nintendo, the scan is a fake. [Thanks Spuky & vidGuy]

All info is pointing to fake, but at unfortunately, the fakers are on to the legitimate Nintendo color formula for their portables - mediocre pastel metallics, as seen on the 'Fat' DS.

C'mon Nintendo! Hit us with some brazen hue mayhem like you plan for the Wii!

We're bound to see outraged cries of speciesism as certain Pokemon are arbitrarily linked to certain colors of DS in ads.

the Ice Blue has always been a color in Japan. However their was a problem at the Japanese launch so only White was available. About two weeks later, both shades of Blue hit Japan stores along with the White.

I don't like those colors. It doesn't really match Diamond and Pearl.
Here's what I think. Diamond should get a shiny, clear DS. Almost like glass. It would look cool to see the insides.
Pearls are white... That can be a problem. But there's also Pink. Maybe a shiny pinkish-white. Guess silver works.
