Time Crisis 3 tops Amazon's gaming list, outsells Brain Age & New Mario
How does a game released October 21, 2003 top Amazon's current best selling video games list? Good question. During the July 4 holiday weekend, Amazon dropped the price of Time Crisis 3 (with dual GunCon2s) to $19.99, sparking a surprising sales surge that shot the aging PS2 light gun title to the #1 position on Amazon's "Top Sellers in Computer & Video Games" list. While the industry is notorious for remaining dormant during the summer months, the Time Crisis 3 sale managed to outsell the red hot DS Lite and its most popular software titles, Brain Age & New Super Mario Bros. Time Crisis 3 is currently sold out on Amazon, but remains the bestseller as of this afternoon.

because it's trade in price is/was higher... lots of people bought tons of copies and will trade in for slightly more credit at stores that didn't get the memo.
this has happened many times in the past.

You have to admit, two specialty controllers (generally seen as excellent controllers for their type) plus a game for only 20 bucks for a current system is mind-blowingly amazing. That's even before you factor in trade-in value.
Given that, it is quite the anomaly. I'd throw that data point out as a freak occurrance if I was tracking things myself.

this game is amazing. I paid $60 for the dual guncon pack and I thought it was worth every penny. I recommend anyone who has a PS2 and $20 pick this game up. You'll love it. The time crisis games are the the best arcade shooters ever in my opinion, and playing them at home is almost just as fun.
A foot pedal would be nice though.

so the sale isn't going on anymore?

Hmm...it was $25 at Gamestop not too long ago. I wonder if any of the stores still have them in stock.

The price is back to $39.99 ATM, so I'm guessing it was a mistake on Amazon's part.

Damn FINAL FANTASY IX-GREATEST HITS is 13 on the list, I didn't even think they sold that game anymore I beat it like at least 5 years ago.

kenny @ Jul 6th 2006 7:20PM
no, i'm pretty sure it takes a snapshot of the screen and compares it to the video signal; it worked when i played it through a mirror.

I'll take some credit for that...thank you very much.

I figured the postings on SlickDeals and FatWallet would shoot sales up, but I didn't suspect 'best-seller'. I'm one of the ones who picked it up a few weeks before for $25 at GameStop.com. One of the GunCons doesn't work and they no GS/EB allow us to trade in online purchases in-store. :(

I can still remember playing Time Crisis for the first time. The simple addition of a hide/pop out foot pedal transformed my experience of the game.
Suddenly it hooked into a childhood of imaginary gun play. Ducking behind chairs, peeping out trying not to get seen. That same warm fuzzy excitment came streaming back playing the game.
Not surprising it is still giving gamers the same thrill, and selling well to boot.
