I'm sure there will be lots of ways to exploit copy protection with HD-DVD and Blu-Ray. What I care more about is someone making a program that quickly rips my DVD's to .avi in under 3 hours. Sound syncing up would also be a great option on the software. I spent 3 hours transfering season one of ATHF to my lyra and all the voices were wrong.

This is a start I suppose. Im not really interested in it however. Im more interested in making actual backups just like with DVDs (with menus this means).

I love DVD decryptor. Hopefully they will create such a product in the future for HD/Blu-ray.

I Still wonder why people like divx so much. Is it because when you download a movie its only 700mb? Cause in todays day and age, 4.3-9GB downloads are normal for me. HD dvd sized dls will take a little longer, but Still worth the wait for me over a .avi version.

isnt this somthing you could do with any kind of video format?

the way Ive seen it presented around the net makes it sound almost like this is a trick exclusive to HD-DVD.

Curious, why not simply yank the video stream prior to the HDMI stage? The analogy would be to use something like HD-SDI in a manner that SDI is currently used to digitally access the digital video stream on DVD players prior to the video output stage.
