Yar! We got webcomics for ya, matey! Okay, so that was lame ...
Welcome our newest contendor, Hooked on Polygons, and check out our picks for the best game-related webcomic this week. Be sure to vote for your favorite!
CAD wasn't in it because it was already featured on the site in a separate news article, so no choice there. VGCats struck me as stupid, continuuing their downward drop. The Snake one's been done to death in the past and the Dragons one just didn't strike me as funny. It's bizarre, they finally make the scenes something other than just two of them talking... and it seems to have lost something along the way.
The other three comics I found pretty funny. The same ol story one, while done before, was real good and had me chuckling. The first one was a nice play on Sony's ad, definitely makes you wonder who they've got running the place :). But I think I'm leaning towards the Rodney Koopa one. Didn't find it funny per se but the images were really great. Sigh, not sure which I'll go for...
Fanboys is great, the new Polygon comic one is lame, I'm fed up with people acting like they have some moral high ground over Sony because they have racism radar or something.
I'm suprised the Fanoby's one is winning. Seriously. The people who voted for it should be ashamed. It was an incredibly cliche comic (heh, the irony), and even though the last frame was pretty funny, it didn't make up for the rest of the comic.
The MGS one was quite funny, I loved it how in the end Snake said "heh, that was funny". Just goes to show.
I was quite disappointed with the Dragon Tails one, actually. I usually love them, and always vote for them. This time, it was, as we say in France, "le crap". Also, the way the text stays on to the next frame annoys me, though didn't alter my decision to not vote for it. The actual content did.
The best was definetely the Crazy Buffet one. Textless humour is becoming a big thing now, due to its innovative design. Sure the whole 50's American situation being superimposed on to a video game has been explored before, but I must say, they do it so well in this one. Why? Comics are art, believe it or not. I'm not looking just at content, I'm looking at presentation. The art style is top notch, and well, just beautiful I must say. Kudos to you, Mr Buffet, may you're crazy (heh) adventures at clubs take you to more people who you will eventually criticize!
"Textless humour something big now"? Seriously, It's not a new thing and it's been popular for a while, PVP and Penny Arcade have been doing textless humour strips for ages. Ever heard of the Far Side? Its been around for a long time and it's one of the staples of comic strips. Rafi I don't mean to sound rude but I found your comment overly pretentious. Comics are indeed considered to be art, however, you are not an art critic. You may as well be saying "That car has four wheels! What an innovative design!". I'm afraid your ivory tower isn't high enough to merit such critical reviews.

One thing I've come to learn is that there are many flavors of humor. Each person 'gets' their own set of flavors, and there are certain ones that are very popular. If you could graph it, it'd probably be a bell curve.
The fact that fanboys used a cliche joke and got rated so well just goes to show that the author has a common sense of humor. If anyone ever thinks the poll winner isn't funny, chances are that it's not because it's not funny, nor are all the voters neanderthals.

The dragon tails one was actually my second choice. Trying to shove norman in the box to get out something better == hilarity. But then, I was a long time dragon tails reader, and the comic seemed to build animosity towards that little twerp. It's really the best punchline the author's had in years.
it's been suggested I link you the comic (see site link above) I do for revo-europe to see if you'd consider it. Id' have emailed this, but I honestly cannot find any means of contact outside of these comments.
And thus, the flaming will probably begin, with most of the responses being "that's shit, CAD is so much better".
I'm the artist behind the fanboys comics and i have to say wow... Just wow...
How do I respond to so much praise and negativity at the same time? I understand where are the CAD fans are coming from with the anger, and I agree with them that this week Tim takes the cake. But this isnt the first time a comic got dodged. If you recall a couple weeks back MY Extra Life got a headline and then missed the line up. Tim buckley got his share of the light when he got the headline for his comic (which was brilliant), and I dont think he'll mind if the newbs duke it out this week without him. good job Tim.
Thanks to joystiq and all those who are voting for fanboys. And an especially big thank you to Ross Miller. You provide for the web comic community a a service which exposes us to people in a direct manner that we could only dream of. You sir, rock.
has anyone ever found that dragon thing that is always on this list funny? do you have to play wow to get those jokes? I cant even spot the joke other than easy bake oven.
ugh stop voting for Nada that Fnboy webcomic is Hilarious I voted for it and I think everyone who has ever played a final fantasy game would totally agree that the entire game series plotline, characters and everything else is the same again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again, ugh. And I'm a Chrono, FF, Fable, Elder Scrolls, Diablo, Castlevania, Breath of Fire and probably a series of other notable RPG Fanboy.
I think the reason penny-arcade weren't in this week was because technically they did not actually write the comic or the news post. Although it was funny. As far as I see it there's no point dwelling on who is or isn't on the list, there was obviously a good reason for them not being there. Saying "*blank* should have been there" is not really any good. If they should've been there they *would* have been there.
You can't put Penny Arcade up to vote because the comics they did this week (or had third graders fill in) WEREN'T ABOUT GAMES. That's the whole point of the webcomic vote, guys.
Uhhh, possibly because Penny Arcade is awesome? Also I don't think there is a better webcomic, certainly there are good webcomics, and there great webcomics (there also terrible ones). But nothing on the same level with the same quality of art and humour. Perhaps they should be left out of polls it's kind of unfair to the other comics.
