Not a bad demo, optimistically waiting.

Seeing the quality of the demo, I don't think Capcom is going to add a boring/crappy multiplayer mode to sell more games. They have already went above and beyond expectations by releasing an amazing demo almost a year before the game itself will be released.

even if they add a generic multiplayer ( capture the flag / dominate) ... it still should be a fun experience since the core game is very fun...

dont think a deathmatch would work to well (im prolly wrong on this)

Euorgamer has a similar article that says it supports 16 players and Capcom are pushing for 32. Presumably 4v4 isn't the only team mode; or perhaps its the only one they have perfected (lag and all that).

It's probably 4v4 to make sure it stays at a silky frame rate.

Hopefully Capcom learned their lesson with Darkwatch. It wasn't the greatest single player game to begin with but the multiplayer was about as tacked on as they come.

I've never understood the high import placed on the number of persons who can be online at once in shooters.

I like 4v4 games better. Individually, you have more of an effect on the outcome of a game. Further, although it seems counterintuitive, there's really more opportunity to all work together as a team when there's fewer players; you eliminate the proverbial fat that's really just getting in your way in the larger games, even if everyone is genuinely trying to work together.

Small to medium maps, and small team based and tight gameplay is the way to go. Hell, if it's good enough for the pros...

I, personally, like less people. 8 people is a good amount. You can't really work as a team with 16 or 32 people on your side, when your with 3 other people you have a closer connection and can really plan stuff out. Your not just part of a group of way to many people. IMO 4 vs 4 is the sweet spot of online console gaming.

I like 4v4 as well, its much easier to get 4 of your friends online at the same time than 8!!

I agree with 3(JimmyHACK). The magnetic grappling hook could play a huge role in maps akin to the first warehouse in the first demo map. Grappling around like that would be fantastic in a CTF game, just disable the flag runner's grappling hook.

Wow. Now, I'm just guessing based on the way you worded things... you didn't like the demo much eh? I might be wrong, but I don't think too many people are sitting on the fence saying "gee... I hope the developer distinguishes the online modes; lord knows I won't buy it if it just has ctf/dm."

The buzz overall seems to be super-positive, and that's from a single-player demo only. There's lots of room in the world for solid single-player games, and if a game has a decent multiplayer mode, all the better. That being said, I'd be truely shocked if it was the originality (or optionally lack thereof) of the multiplayer mode that will make or break Lost Planet... Correct me if I'm wrong, but Oblivion sold a copy or two despite it's underdeveloped multiplayer. ;)

Does anyone know what multiplayer modes this game will support?

I dunno...I downloaded the demo and thought the camera was pretty bad in some areas. I hope they fix that problem before the final game ships.

The biggest problem with close-quarter 3rd person games is that the camera gets stuck behind walls, large objects, etc.

To it's credit though, for a demo is REALLY polished.

This game will be a system seller if it's anything like the demo. This game and Gears of War are what I'm really looking forward to for this year...

3 words: Multiplayer Bionic Commando. Who cares how many players, it looks awesome, it plays AMAZING, and the single-player blew my mind. Capcom has a winner here, for sure.
