With the recent developments between a certain South American government not particularly caring for the depiction of their country in a negative light, it's not that hard to believe that there is still no publisher yet.

Even Bono is getting bad press by being associated with this game.

Personally, I believe that Pandemic's best bet at this point is to suck up to SCEA/SCEE/SC-whoever... and get the sucker published as a second party game. If they play their cards right, they can get some extra cash for offering ps3 exclusivity.

can't be that hard to get a publisher when you have a game that should easily profit....

they should just offer exclusivity rights to make it an easier sale i would think...

By ingnoring a platform such as the 360 aren't they possibly losing money? I would think with of all of the talk about the prices of development increasing that publishers would be looking at releasing their titles on both consoles (360 and the PS3) to maximize profit...

I think since they announced the price of the PS3, a lot of developers are re-thinking exclusivity. Had Sony been able to control the cost better, it would have most certainly been a 'sure thing.' Now I think everyone is being a little more cautious, and taking a wait and see approach. The number of consoles sold in the first six to twelve months will be especially important.

When a company has a "sweet" game, often Sony or MS or Nintendo can offer them money to keep it exclusive to their console. So, they get free money and, say, Sony would get to show the world that their system has yet another game that you can only get by purchasing PS3.

Personally, I thought Merc1 was disappointing. Not terrible, but given the aggressive marketing it left me feeling very unsatisfied. I expected a kickass revolutionary game and got something that I sold shortly after completion. I don't think Sony will, or should, offer a heck of a lot for exclusivity to this game. It's not like it's GTA or Final Fantasy or anything. It's just Mercenaries.

Hmm! No publisher?
Could that be because the first iteration was such a massive disappointment. I know I've bored for England on this already, but 'Mercenaries' was a great sandbox game... let down only by the fact that there was no sand!

As flawed as the title is, it remains head and shoulders above its imitators, and I think THAT'S the reason why publishers aren't queueing up for the next installment...

I can understand the developers point of view.
I wouldn't like to bet on a gold plated dodo either.

I think the PS3 exclusivity for Mercenaries 2 is a bad idea. There were many gamers who played the orginal for both Xbox and PS2, and to ignore the Xbox players is a bad idea. And as Robotic House Plant pointed out, the high price for the PS3 will most likely deter all but biggest fanboys and early blue ray adopters for awhile.

As someone who has yet to choose a side in the upcoming console war, Mercenaries 2 is one of two PS3 games I'm actually interested in (the other being MGS4). If they do end up bringing it to 360, my choice between the two systems will be made a lot easier.

Yeah the first Mercs wasn't the greatest game... i highly doubt it'll matter to people which system its on.

I dont think it quite has the selling potential of say Resident Evil or other games of that nature. heck RIIDGE RACER!! probably has more selling potential!

With those standards what would Gears of War do? Make him buy 3+ 360's?

This game is definitely not a system seller. With that said, the chances of it being on the 360 are very high.

Mercenaries 2 is a system seller, at least in my eyes it is. But since I already have an xbox360, why would I buy a PS3 if Mercenaries wasn't exclusive?

The Xbox 360 version will instantly be a best selling game. It is business suicide to even consider not releasing a game like Mercenaries 2 for the Xbox 360. When Mercenaries 2 appears on the Xbox 360, I will be there to purchase it the first day it is available. I am no longer considering a Playstation 3, because it is simply too expensive and it is not a good value. The Xbox 360 is a much better value as a videogame system, simply because it has so many more games with graphics that are just as good if not better than the Playstation 3.
