Resident Evil Wii info coming soon?

The current issue of the Official Nintendo Magazine (September) states that they had exclusive Resident Evil Wii information, but it didn't turn up in time for the printing process (printing sucks). The article goes on to say that the news will break in next month's October issue and contains the teaser "Here's a clue," along with a silhouette that is easily noticed as Leon Kennedy.

This all comes via DASGames from a recent posting over at IGN's Wii boards, but alas, we'll happily take in the speculation.

Goodness. I'm glad to have Leon back, considering the last game he appeared in was perfect.

I read somewhere (Wiigamer? or maybe gonintendo) that a Chris Redfield model is nearly completed, so that'll be interesting with both Leon and Chris in the game. And it's supposed to run on a modified RE4 engine with 'highly increased' visuals. My guess is it'll use the Wii remote to increase aiming accuracy.

As long as it's more like RE4 and less like Gun Survivor, as rumored, I'll buy it on release day.

July just started and the september issue is out? Is it just me, or do magazines need to get back on track with what month they're releasing on?

Maybe that's why the info wasn't published. It's actually supposed to happen in september but Nintendo realized it was july and remembered they didn't have it yet. :(

Gun Survivor most likely indeed. Movement with the stick and shooting with the wiimote.

I do sincerily hope it's an entirely new game, and not simply a port of RE4. If it is, that will just further one of the apprehensions customers will be faced with when deciding on whether or not to get a Wii: Should I buy a game I already own just for the added Wii functionality? I got my eye on you Capcom.

I REALLY hope that this game is a direct sequel to RE4. Maybe the Plagas samples ada had gets turned over to the wrong hands and and entire city gets infected... or something like that. My hopes for the controls are as follows: The exact same control scheeme as RE$, but when in Aim mode the Wiimote would be used to aim; in knife mode it would be used to slash. These controls would be absolutely perfect and smooth

Shouldn't people be recieving the August issue now? And frankly, shouln't the July issue have just come out 2 weeks ago???

Aww damn, I know what it is now.
It's the same RE4 with the added stuff from the PS2 and Wii controls.
Probably new stuff too.

I think they print a future month so often now because the ONLY people that buy magazines any more are business that need to put something to read in their waiting rooms.

Seems to me that putting a future month on the front makes the news seem "current" to people in said waiting room longer.

I'm thinking that Nintendo sees the money making opportunity in combining Resident Evil with Wii in order to make gamers combine their pants with wee.

I can't believe no one has thought of the obvious, RE4 remade with Wii controls. There's a PC version in the works, so it's not like they're not working with the game anymore. I'm almost positive this is it.

Oh and not to mention RE4 already seems perfectly suited for the control scheme. It actually almost seems like it was ment for the Wii to begin with.

Hell I bought the PS2 version, bring it on! This is my fourth favorite game ever, I'd love to see more of it.

I honestly don't think Capcom is going to port RE4.

This is not a port. Repeat, this is not a port. Capcom was already rumored to be making a unique RE for the Wii. Why would they port a 2 year old gamecube game over when you could stick RE4 in your wii and play with it. That came out bad.

Zelda TP is a unique example. They ported to the Wii because TP wasn't out yet and will help push systems.

I haven't seen this silhouette, but if anyone has can they confirm it as Leon? Remember, before RE4 was released people claimed that the screenshots of Ada were really of Claire.

Despite Ada being a big part in Leon's story of RE2. And despite the fact that Ada had a red dress in both games (publications saw her wearing red and assumed it was Claire of all people). And despite the fact that there was early speculation then later confirmation that Ada survived RE2.

Sorry, had to rant.

I highly doubt its a port of RE4 and not an original game that is a sequal to RE4. Who would buy it? Who wants this game that doesnt own a GCN or a PS2, but will own a Wii. $50 simply isn't worth the price. Im expecting a sequal to RE4 that isnt called RE5, and most likely takes place between the two. Hopefully it will be even better than RE4. Here's to hoping.

Im still praying for RE5, but Capcom went psycho after that last reshuffling of personel, so its most likely we wont see a true RE on the Wii again... =/

This will be a port. I think Capcom has learned its lesson releasing exclusive titles for Nintendo consoles.

What? That the games do well and so they port them to PS2, pissing off the fanbase and game creators?

Your forgetting that until the remake of Resident Evil, all the games have come out on the Playstation (RE4 was originally intended for PS2 quite a few years ago). What pissed off the fanbase was bringing out the exclusive remake and Resident Evil 0 on GC.

Resident Evil 5 had been confirmed for the PS3 and the hi-definition screens look AMAZING! From the pictures, im pretty sure the main character may be Chris. So what is this exclusive title for the Wii? Sounds to me like its going to be another spin off like Gun Survivor or Resident Evil Outbreak.

which magazine is it? If It's the UK mag then the september issue doesn't come out until the first week of august. The August mag has just come out.

To answer people's "Why is the September issue out?" questions -- it's not out, but the magazine staff has probably just finished assembling their September issue and sent it to the printers. I work at a monthly mag and we're finishing up our September issue right now.

It's a matter of logististics; it takes time to print the millions of copies necessary for a national magazine, and September issues generally hit the newsstands/reach subscribers in mid-August. Thus, you actually have to send the files to the printer by mid-July at the latest.

Anyway, OT, it would seem incredibly silly to have a mere RE4 port for the Wii, seeing as how the GC version is completely playable on the Wii via backwards compatibility.

to the hell whit "i am on sell"(CAPCOM;KONAMI;NAMCO;FACTOR 5;EA), if they see that wii're crazy for this, guess what, a P$3 version, before a month to the release

Anyone actually thought that perhaps the new Wii game could have something to do with the early RE4 clips(the version of the game that was scrapped but looked great?)

If you play RE4 on the Wii do you think that the Wiimote will work with the game or will it only play with the wired GCN controller or Wavebird?

hey maybe its a remake of RE2? a long time ago they said they would make remakes of the earlier RE games, they made RE1, and maybe now they are doing RE2, and its got leon in it to prove the silhouette
