A Sony fanboy gone mad

Hell hath no fury like a fanboy scorned. Lately, Sony's fan base has taken nuclear bomb-like hits to the gut for the PlayStation 3, so it's no surprise that some are ready to snap. Immortalized in YTMND form, a GameSpot caller who goes by the name of Jason16888 pretty much sums up every frustration each Sony sheep has been feeling lately. In his own high-pitched girl-like screams, our friend Jason goes into rants on such annoyances as PS3 game prices and bad marketing. He even mentions that he may do the worst thing ever for a Sony fanboy: buy an Xbox 360. Has it really come to this people?

Wow, that is so fake. The guy is obviously not a Sony fanboy and just doing this as a joke to make Sony look bad. You can tell it's fake by his voice whenever he gets mad.

haha, if that ain't a sony fanboy, then they simply don't exist (and we all know they do). It looks like sony is startin to lose it's fanbase that they were realyin on to win the console war. They said they'd sell 10 million even if they had no games. Well guess what, i guess it's 9,999,999 now.

Actually, he has a good question in there:
"Why can't Sony give us some good news?"
And based on what I see in the retail environment, he sounds like most under-25 hardcore gamers. I've seen guys screaming like this back and forth about whether a game on PS2 or Xbox was better - so given the lack of positive information that's been put out, it sounds fairly legit to me.
He also says something in there as well that I've been hearing - games will be $60 - $100, and I'm seeing pre-pricing information in the $80 range.
Tell me none of you have ever (at least before you got married, had kids, and became responsible adults) gone off on someone due to frustration like this. Hell, I did that not too long ago with the phone company due to a billing error. (I was not going to pay the $4,385 that they said I owed when my real bill was $43.85 - I love it when programs drop decimal points and call center people are too stupid to realize that the computer screwed up.)

Seriously, for those harping, yet again, about Joystiq being biased against Sony (you know, for the times they're not being accused of being anti-Nintendo or anti-Microsoft), I wouldn't waste my time defending an organization that merely sees you as a source of income (which does sum up all three console producers).

Interesting story on NPR this morning. They quoted a Jupiter analyst who said that both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray sales have been lagging below projections. Consumers surveyed would look at the displays, and not see anything worth blowing hundreds of extra dollars over.
This is not good news for Sony, who are going to have to justify why their product commands a $200 premium.

Hate to admit it, but I too was once a Sony fan... PS and PS2 were both great systems, and the gaming world was better for their existence (along with such classics as Battle Arena Toshinden, Twisted Metal, Shadow of the Colossus, etc)...
With all the crap Sony is pulling right now, they will not see a dime from me for their new console.
It's sad... I would have really enjoyed MGS and DMC.
PS: For the record, M$ 360 is just as lame at this point. Also, from the reports on flaws in it's control mechanism, I harbor doubts about the (stupidly named) Wii.

Oh my God (non-specific), omg. Never have I seen someone type out their speech impediment so well. Heaven forbid you play online with a headset.
I have to admit, I've been a Sony person for a long time but it seems like they are all money and not in it for the experience of gaming - which the PS2 was all about. They need to go back to their roots and focus on gaming and innovation, not to media-whoring and attention grabbing - here in the US and Europe. Has anyone checked up on how its home country (Japan) is reacting to the PS3?

well well...i never get work up as much as this guy..but i really liked sony with the playstation came out as the cheap but worthy competitor to the sega and nintendo dominance...and eventually won in the install base wars(but nintendo and sega always had the better games)...sony had the cheaper price point with both its ps2 and ps1. it was also more friendlier with its developers beacuse it was cheaper to produce a game on the PS1 than on n64 and saturn...
now sony has gone of the deep end, making a computer system...oppppssss...a game system which has lost its identity. SONY doesnt know if it wants it to be the media center game system or media center pc which plays games...its like their stuck in between...not knowing what they want lost in all the blue ray mumbo jumbo...well i hope sony finds its marbels... even though im going to buy an Wii60 combo instead of the PSWii combo

Listen with the way Sony has handled the aftershocks of E3 I would be screaming foul as well. Now I'm NOT a fanboy but a Diehard gamer who WILL support ALL 3 systems. Though I have to say that the more info that comes out of the Sony camp the more I'm not sure if I want to get one on the first day in fear of the 600.00 monster breaking down!! In the last couple of weeks you have heard a TON of stories re: the breaking down of Blu-Ray chip sets and you know what they say " Where there's smoke, there's fire".

Wow, Fan boy rants on a Gameblog. Well, he has got all the attention he needs.
Heck, I wonder if he knows something about hardware manufacture about what took Sony and Nintendo So long to launch their consoles. While Microsoft is well settled in the PC market, they did not need time to develop anything all they did was grab a tri-core processor, a good amount of RAM, a graphics card from ATI, a DVD Player, A hard disk(Which is actually optional) and some wireless controllers and throw all of it into a new box. All that helped Xbox 360 was their games(Oblivion, GRAW,etc). While Sony had to develop the Cell-Processor, Blu-ray drive, Nvidia RSX and add the HDMI v1.3 port(upgraded recently and which is optional), a hard-drive,etc. Nintendo implemented NEC new DRAM on their console, A Wiimote(that's all the HYPE abt) and some graphics card from ATI( rumoured to be 3 times powerful than the Xbox.
It's the games that matter, if Oblivion, GRAW helped Xbox 360, then MGS4, Heavenly Sword, Assassin's Creed will do the same for the PlayStation 3, while there are WiiSports, Red Steel, Mario, Zelda for the Wii.
I personally think that WiiSports are actually a rip-off of the Gametrak of in2games made Real Golf and Dark Wind for the PC,PS2,Xbox. Some games like baseball, action/adventure, party, dancing, shooting and basketball game are in development can I call Nintendo to be a nintocat. Hell not I like the games and I do not own Sony or Microsoft or Immersion so that I can Sue Someone.

I just got a x360 and have to say I absolutely love it. It is an all-arounded well designed system. Intuitive user interface, pretty cool features, and outstanding graphics. I will not however pay over 400 dollars for a video game console. I have no intention of rebuying my movies in Blu-Ray or even HD-DVD formats. A 600 dollar price tag is a lot to stomach. This is not to say that I can not afford it, it is to say that I feel the price is unreasonable for what I am essentially getting (a game console). I am not the only one that feels this way. Will I forever avoid the PS3? Hell no. But when I do buy it, im not going to pay more than 400 bucks for it. As for the wii, at 250, how can you afford to not have one?

Okay, I'll admit I was LMAO on this one, but I do feel sorry for the Sony supporters. I would definitely say I am one, but I was raised on a fine diet of Japanese games in my formative years (NES & Sega days) and Sony still seems like the best platform for those considering the Wii control scheme. My real soft spot will always be for the Big N though.
I hate to say it, but the PS3 has turned into such a sweet slice of revenge. Both the PS1 and PS2 represented a lot of things us old gamers despised. Most importantly for me was that the PS2 became a console that dominated market share just because it was the 'cool' system. You could argue a whole chicken-and-the-egg thing because it also has a huge library and strong 3rd-party support, but when it got incorporated into Hip Hop culture, it really cemented itself as the console to beat. As I said, I'm old-school, and in my idealistic, pollyanna mind, the number #1 console should be so because of the games and the system.
So here we are some many years later and those same gamers are now feeling what it's like to be the red-headed stepchild. I'll admit, I have to laugh at their plight, especially considering that I have always been a vocal supporter for Nintendo.
But really folks, there's still so much about the system we don't know, it seems illogical to bash Sony...yet. As for their FanBoys...well, I'll stay out of it, but we could cut them a LITTLE bit of break.

If you are a Sony fan why would you keep reading joystiq if you really believe its that anti sony. The "Joystiq is Biased" posts are stupid. All joystiq does is point to other articles and websites. It's simply a measure of how disapointed people are in Sony. I google Nintendo news everyday and get almost no bad press anywhere for the Big N. Whereas sony has become very adept at creating their own.

okay sony has been screwing shit up since BETAMAX. even mini disc wasn't great, b/c sony wants to keep all the rights and make all the money. thats why these formats didn't work. what makes you think blu-ray will actually pull through? betamax was great i still use it. i never caught on with minidisc b/c i saw what happened to beta max. they also came up with audio compression to compeat with *.mp3, its *.omg. and that didn't pull through either.
i dont really see this going anywhere besides between a group of diehards.

You guys do realize that the E3 demos were done in two weeks time and most people had no problem controlling the games. These were people who had never played video games before and they got into it in five minutes. Had them a regular console controller and they won't play it.
Also seriously a lot of the complaiers about the wiimote need to rethink what they said because most of them didn't seem to realize the units can be calibrated for each user or that were multiple modes such as an expert control mode. Funny how most people that had an issue with Metroid Prime when told to use the expert setting found the game played just as well as a pc fps using a mouse and keyboard.
The vast majority of people have reported no issues controlling the wiimote. Most of the hate about it seems to come from known Anti-Nintendo a-holes.
Sony doesn't need the blu-ray drive for games it's a trojan horse. Heck a research firm came out with a way for a drive to read blu-ray, hd-dvd, dvd-roms, cd-roms, cd audio discs without multiple lasers so the damn drive is dirt cheap.
HDMI is crap that is going to make millions of HDTVs useless to watch on. Cell processor isn't all that is cracked up to be.
The graphics card isn't any more powerfull then what is in the 360.
Hell the COD3 wii screenshots that are released look the same as the earlier leaked screenshots that people were saying had to be the PS3 version.

BUT, I do know that $ony is hurting themselvese BIG time. The Xbox 360 is going to do very well. And whether you like it or not, the Wii is going to do some heavy duty damage to $ony this coming year.

What is the usual procedure for getting people removed/banned from the site? 'X' is quite obviously just trolling for responses on his anti-everybody attitude, yet he's still around.
Free speech is one thing, but disrupting the community should be grounds for the administrators to immediately revoke his posting abilities.
