Pac-Man creator leaves Namco to teach game developers
In an recent interview with Japan's Famitsu game magazine, Pac-Man creator Toru Iwatani discussed his decision to leave Namco Bandai this March after 30 years to teach aspiring game developers at the university level. Although he expressed a desire to keep making games, he felt the need to teach development methods and communication skills for the betterment of the industry. "Right now, the state of career training in the Japanese games industry is on the verge of crisis," said Iwatani. He continued by saying that "Japan is far behind in the field of game education compared with the US, Europe, Korea, and China."[Thanks, creamsugar]
