XBLA drops titles as though they were hot

Gamasutra reports that July 12th -- tomorrow -- begins a string of events entitled Xbox Live Arcade Wednesdays. Starting tomorrow, a new Xbox Live Arcade title will be available for download every Wednesday through August 9th. Here's the list of games:

July 12 – Frogger
July 19 – Cloning Clyde
July 26 – Galaga
August 2 – Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting (!)
August 9 – Pac-Man

It looks like this info wasn't supposed to come out until tomorrow, and Gamasutra has already pulled its post down at the request of Microsoft. I considered doing the same thing until I saw that my ~~evil master~~ friend Chris Grant has already run with the story. So, um, yeah. Good news, eh?

i want the free 80's party pack with the free microsoft points for an arcade download

I want to know where the heck Lumines Live is. The release date on xbox.com is still listed as "July 2006," but it sure isn't on this list, and I can't imagine they wouldn't include it in this promotion.

Frogger will be fun.. Still waiting on the "new" Contra & Paperboy though :)

I can't say I'm excited for any of these really. Maybe since I was in diapers when alot of them came out I just don't feel nostalgic over them. Uno, however, is the shit. I want to see a Monopoly or something classic soon.

This is some great news. I wish I was free tonight and could go to the event. I still want to see texas hold'em poker on the aracade, but these 5 games will definetely hold me over.

On an off-topic note, the picture on the article would have been mo' funny with the German guy from the VW commercials.. ya know "Vee just dropped it like it's hooot" Ya??

We should start speculating on how "effed" the achievements will be.

Frogger: 1m cars dodged/frogs saved
Pacman: 1m dots/ghosts gobbled
SF2: 360 x Zangief 360 piledrivers in one session

Am I the only one stoked for Cloning Clyde? The 360 needs some platforming love, and Outpost Kaloki (from the same crew) was pretty fun. I'm actually looking forward to this more than any of the announced XBLA titles except maybe Contra. Three cheers for original, cheap games!
