is GT4 the only "rare example" of being able to save console screenshots?

Showing off. The simple ability to take screenshots within games -- maybe marking particular achievements, or cool moments -- and share them with others is a PC staple, but what about consoles and handhelds? Loco Roco and Rumble Roses recognise that sometimes people just want to record pretty pictures, but being able to save screenshots from consoles is rare.

Most games with cameras like Metal Gear Solid, Beyond Good and Evil, or Dark Cloud 2 allow you to take pictures in-game. They can usually be saved, but showing them off is usually not possible.

I think a game like Fable that centered around character customization could have benefited from allowing users to upload a model of their character on Xbox Live and just have a gallery or something.

I do agree that people like instant-gratification, but doesn't that cut down the time spent playing the game? I think Metroid is the classic case of losing all your powers after every game, and having to regain them each time. But it works because it's centered around exploration. The game wouldn't be as interesting if Samus started at full power and just hunted Omega Metroid the whole game. It'd get too boring too fast.

"Time spent shouldn't be wasted." I really like this one. I like exploring the worlds in RPGs or even action games when it's allowed. I don't really feel as if it's time wasted, even if I don't find anything. I did find that there wasn't anything there, and as minor as it is, that counts to me. However, it would be much more gratifying if, after exploring a seemingly empty corner of the world, I stumble upon a potion or something. I remember in FFIX when I got to an area I wasn't suppose to be in, and an NPC warned me not to walk through a certain spot. When I did, I was attacked by a dragon that was way too hard for my level. I died of course, but it was fun. And I got to see a cool dragon.

A lot of simple ideas that could benefit a game, if used correctly.

My personal pet hate is something that plagues nearly every Metroidvania, as well as other games like the GTA series: multiple collectables, and what happens when you've found all but one. Finding that last pickup is as hard as it would be if there was only one secret in the entire game, but the rewards rarely reflect that. GTA got closest - as you find hidden packages, you get more and more money per package and every 10 packages unlocks a better and better free weapon. I'd like to see that carried over to other games, or even better, make it easier to find that last 10%.
