DB Weiss takes on Halo script [update 1]
Author D.B. Weiss, whose novel Lucky Wander Boy earned him some critical acclaim, recently spoke to GameSetWatch about the success of his book and his current project: the Halo movie script. What about Alex Garland, who was reportedly paid $1 million for his screenplay? It is not rare for a studio to bring in another author to clean up and tweak a script, and that's our guess for what Weiss is currently doing. Weiss is also working on "an entirely new second draft" for the Lucky Wander Boy adaptation as well as tackling Ender's Game alongside David Benioff.
If nothing else (director, actors, production dates), at least the script is working out.

[update 1: In an e-mail exchange, Weiss told Joystiq that, while he can't say much, he is "doing a rewrite on the Garland script for Halo." Also, since a Joystiq commentor was curious about Ender's Game, Weiss said this: "Orson Scott Card wrote an Ender's Game script, as did Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris, and myself."]

What the... the author of Lucky Wander Boy? The guy who couldn't maintain a coherent plot for over 200 pages? The guy who managed to act more pretentious than me somehow?
He's someone who's more interested in making an obscure reference to prove he's smart than to actually deepen the quality of the work in question. Anyone who would seriously talk about the Marxist interpretation of Pac-Man (which he spent a page of Lucky Wander Boy doing) is just a bit too full of themselves.
If this guy's making the script for a Halo movie, I wouldn't get my hopes up for quality.

I'm glad to see the movie is starting to get going.

Interesting how the author, Orson Scott Card, is the one who actually did the script for Ender's Game this time around, so unless he's just tweaking it, your facts are wrong. The script has been through I believe three rewrites, and I doubt they would have hired him to do yet ANOTHER rewrite.

I read Lucky Wander Boy over a year ago and loved the book. D.B. Weiss' love and commitment to gaming should ensure that the Halo movie is half decent. Remember its the Director thats going to screw the story up on this.

So let me get this straight. A person who wrote a book about a guy destroying his company for making a movie videogame script is writing... a videogame script. Sure, it's not a retrogaming script... but still...
