Those already picturing the mesmerizing possibilities of an action/adventure set in the world of financial loans will have to face disappointment yet again, as Ultimate Spider-Man developer Treyarch has been tapped by Activision to create a game starring the other and recently less valuable Bond. James Bond. Likely based on the upcoming film franchise reboot, Casino Royale, the game is targeting next-generation platforms and the general consensus that Bond games aren't worth a (Money) penny.Having rescued the Bond license from the metallic hands that programmed Goldeneye: Rogue Agent, Activision will no doubt attempt to do right by Fleming fans if they wish to reap the rewards from their investment. Giving Treyarch the job seems like a good decision, certainly superior to that of placing a permanently disgruntled, blond man into the suave spy's shoes. Indeed, it seems preferable to place the gamer in those rocket-propelled shoes instead. Who wouldn't want to be a man of mystery (like, which STD does he have?) traipsing across the world, bedding foreign beauties and then killing said foreign beauties when they inevitably betray you? Also -- casino minigames!

I suspect the game will redefine what we think of as an extremely average shooting game; which is still a few steps up from the progressively worse bond crap EA was flinging at us.
The scariest thing about the movie (and I would assume by extension the game)? No Q, and NO GADGETS, not even rocket-propelled shoes. :(

When has bond every run around with a RL? yet they feel the need to put it in every game. That and the god awful aiming system, the crap grahpics, boring story, static environments, killing 400 people for some reason, the fact everyone looks the same and lets no forget the joke they call multiplayer trying to capture what Goldeneye did forgetting that was 10 f'ing years ago... move on. And lets have less vehicle chases THERE BORING!!!! have and been done to death, yes we get it, Bond has rockets.

I have to disagree - this could be one of the best things to happen to James Bond in years - a return to the clever agent that Ian Fleming created many decades ago, the agent without the laser watch, without the go-go-gadgets that, while fun, also are crutches that have held back the book series' top agent that could take a punch and occasionally wound up in the hospital; a mortal. A well-funded and armed mortal that pulled the ladies, but a mortal nonetheless.
I mean, the 'Bourne' movies have been more 'Bond' than the last several 'Bond' movies. Plus, Daniel Craig is the first actor since Connery to look like a realistic person, not some man-model. Hopefully it will be a sort of renaissance for the Bond-as-a-spy concept, like 'Batman Begins' wrenched the horrid Batman franchise out of the hands of the Warner Brothers Store and back into the imaginations of the fans.
I'm looking forward to Casino Royale _the movie_, but I do admit: a Bond without the ridiculous gadgets doesn't seem like the best basis for a video game. That is another story. Long live 'GoldenEye!' (the N64 version, not the movie...)

Then they went and cut his hair. : / Here's hoping the promo shot was foreshadowing. Also, i'm pretty sure you'll be able to get a sense of technology. You can get that from the trailer where it shows a holographic, somewhat skeletal hand.
Anyways, here's hoping for a good game. Hope Treyarch is getting too much more on it's plate than it can put down.

I kind of agree with you. But I only play 007 games for the multiplayer part (it's always fun to shoot you best friend then steal his gun).

Keep the controls similar to most FPS's today on the 360 (copy Halo 2's controls). Then take the multi-player from Goldeneye and add some new maps and game types and we'd be set...

Btw, in the books Bond is not a very nice guy, so the "permanently disgruntled" thing works. It's also good that they're getting rid of the ridiculous gadgets that were added in the movies. I do wish they had dyed Craig's hair black though. Other than that, he looks the part. Way better than pretty-boy Brosnan, with those awful chipper little one-liners.
