Promo card hints at Prey movie

Let's all hope that Uwe Boll doesn't catch wind of this, but an astute Joystiq reader brought something very interesting to our attention. In true Wheels of Fortune style, our little tipster figured out that according to a Prey promotional card included in the 360 game, a movie based on the newly released title could be in the works.
Filling in the blanks of the secret code "prymvyscrnplycmng2007" reveals the possible: Prey movie screenplay coming 2007. Now granted, the people behind this may not know how to spell the word "movie" correctly (notice it says "mvy"), but it can't be sheer coincidence that this just happens to spell out this particular message, can it?
For those of us who've spent some time with the game, we know how good the story is. So, put in the right hands, it could make for a very entertaining movie. So long as you know who doesn't take charge.

If you wait until after the credits roll, you are treated to a little 'aftermath' level. It sets up for a sequel, and leaves you with the words "Prey Will Continue..."

thanx for posting a pic of this. I heard about it a while ago and my box didn't have that card in it. it has been driving me crazy for days now. Anyway a movie about the game would be sweet if it is made right, although i won't be. Also Prey is amazing. One of the greatest games I have ever played.

It's a "Y" because the message just has the vowels removed. I guess they were just counting on people being too stupid to figure out that "mv" would be "movie".

Notice that this message says that a SCREENPLAY is coming, not a MOVIE. Anybody can write a screenplay (and pretty much everybody does) -- doesn't mean it will be realized into an actual movie.
What is it with all these game developers who obsess more over developing "intellectual properties" instead of GAMES? With all their energy they spend on this, maybe they'd be better off and happier producing movies instead. So many middle-of-the-road developers come across like they'd rather be in the movie business. No wonder the gaming industry has an inferiority complex with Hollywood.

@ T-bag, what exactly did I spoil? I didn't tell you jack crap. I merely said that there was something after the credits, and that there was the message "Prey Will Continue". Something after the credits could be anything. I was very careful to not spoil anything. If anything, you should thank me. Now you know to wait around for a minute when you beat the sucker instead of just hitting reset and putting in Barbie's Horse Adventure.

"pray for Prey Campain", all video game movies ARE bad. The only thing that made the ones from the 80s and early 90s enjoyable was the whole campiness of it all. "Lucas" and the Power Glove? The fish from SMB3 being portrayed as a large black woman in a spikey red suit? Then Uwe Boll and Paul W.S. Anderson came in and made plain shitty movies.
The street fighter fanfiction was a nice touch.

Yeah, dude, they didn't misspell "movie". They wrote it that way on purpose so you'd be able to "speak out" the clue. It would make no sense for them to abbreviate it "mvi".

The reason movie is spelled incorrectly is because they removed all the vowels, and needed a substitute.

Bob, that's the fun of video games. Once you beat it and feal all accomplished and shit you have to watch the credits, or at least I do. Having something like that is a pleasant surprise, but now all I'm going to know it as is "Bob's Never-ending Story". FFS.

Hahaha-I'm glad they see it my way as far as what director to NOT use. XD (Note, a couple months back I put in comments like that in one of my comics. XD) As for this Prey movie... it says Screenplay, though, doesn't it? What if the screenplay will be available next year, but not the movie itself? And hell if it's live action, right? But if it becomes a computer animation, then there's NO WAY they can get a movie this graphics intensive out before the end of 2007...
