Gaming with a silver spoon

Since 1830, Chistofle has been about all things silver. So naturally, some 6 generations later, the brand has turned to gaming, becoming the face of your Xbox 360 -- well, maybe, not your Xbox 360, but rather, five rich geeks' 360s.
Later this year, the Colette boutique in Paris, will be selling five -- and only five -- solid-silver, Chistofle-branded Xbox 360 faceplates. That's five, solid-silver, Chistofle-branded, €1,000 ($1,260) Xbox 360 faceplates. We suppose there are more pointless and selfish ways to spend that kinda money, but we just can't think of any.

You could always make it a totally selfless act by buying ME one. :D
Captain Obvious @ Jul 20th 2006 1:34PM
I'm ashamed to say that I actually want one of those.
Rask @ Jul 20th 2006 1:35PM
Whatever you do, don't sent that in with your 360 to Microsoft when it dies.
student @ Jul 20th 2006 1:36PM
So much for the buy a Wii and xbox 360 for less than a ps3. With one of these... you could buy TWO ps3s :) (in the US, europe well... guess not there)

I think the face-plate is a horrible waste of cash, but...
"...more pointless and selfish ways..."
Um, oh ok Joystiq. Pointless, yes, but selfish!? I guess people should spend their hard-earned money on Joystiq staff instead then?
I don't want to be thought of as selfish by the high-and-mighty Joystiq crew.
One day I hope you guys take over the world so you can rule over everyone; you can judge and take swift action over all the dirty, selfish people.
nyc @ Jul 20th 2006 1:45PM
I just bought all 5, so suck it
Loque @ Jul 20th 2006 1:46PM
Buy one, melt it down, make a Wii faceplate.
HAH!
Raaaaaah @ Jul 20th 2006 1:48PM
Xbox 360: $400
Xobx 360 Game: $60
Chistofle Silver Faceplate: $1,260
Xbox 360 blowing up in your face: Priceless
Raaaaaah @ Jul 20th 2006 1:50PM
Xbox*
ahah I said Xobx.
Ethan Thomas @ Jul 20th 2006 1:55PM
$1,260 dollars??!?! Are you kidding? That's outrageous! I mean, you could ALMOST afford a PS3 holiday bundle for that kind of money. :P (I'd admit that was a cheap shot..but for their asking price, Sony had it coming. And let's not forget the fact that it was a JOKE people...or, at least, it was meant to be....guess we'll see....)
Seriously though, whoever buys a faceplate for that much money has issues. I won't even pay the $15 they want for the plastic faceplates. There's just no point.
JJ @ Jul 20th 2006 1:57PM
You know what if it was maybe... 1220 bucks cheaper i'd buy it! But hey i'm happy with my all black 360 at the moment.
Corbo @ Jul 20th 2006 2:00PM
It's a lot of money, sure, but with only five out there, they'll only get more expensive. I imagine it'll be all over the gaming news when one goes for 10k on ebay a few years from now.
pandlcg @ Jul 20th 2006 2:16PM
it's about the same price people paid for a 360 on ebay at launch
Merx @ Jul 20th 2006 2:17PM
Surley if you put your 360 vertical. It would just fall forward?
But then again. With that sort of money. You could pay somebody to keep it upright, even when turned off..

To accomodate your purchase of a silver 360 faceplate, why not check out Sony's own signature line of accessories! Such as...*drumbeat*...an official, Sony wine glass for $21! PSP crocodile skins for JUST $300! crew neck shirts at the incredibly low price of only $140!

Jay @ Jul 20th 2006 2:40PM
I was planning on buying one of them for my 360, but seeing I won't have a 360 for at least another year then they'll sold out.
lloyd @ Jul 20th 2006 2:45PM
"...there are more pointless and selfish ways to spend that kinda money, but we just can't think of any."

$1,260 for a faceplate? Christofle is so arrogant.
lothar @ Jul 20th 2006 3:31PM
Coming soon to a rappers home games setup on Cribs...
TestType @ Jul 20th 2006 5:26PM
The future owners of those faceplates can look forward to polishing it regularly, as silver turns dirty black if it's not polished.
Rare Hare @ Jul 20th 2006 10:30PM
"$1,260 for a faceplate? Christofle is so arrogant."
Um, no. The face plate is just solid silver. What do you expect them to charge for 1 of 5 of a kind signature SOLID SILVER faceplates. 15 bucks? You're probably one of those who thinks that Sony is just charging $500-$600 for the PS3 because they just feel like it. Get real, dude.
someguy @ Jul 20th 2006 11:30PM
I was being sarcastic. The intent of the post was to poke fun at those people who think Sony is "arrogant" for charging so much for an expensive piece of equipment. I actually feel that the Ps3 warrants that price tag. I also feel that the "crippled" model is a perfect choice for anyone who just wants to play the games and not lan crap up, watch protected blu rays several years on down the road (when they come out), or store GBs of porn on they're hard drive.
Wickedneoq @ Jul 21st 2006 4:13AM
Silver faceplate would be great and all, but when I think silver, I think Xbox Live Silver, and this conversation...
"Dude, Check out my new faceplate, it's made of solid silver!"
"That thing must have cost you a fortune!"
"Heck yeah, over a grand."
"And you STILL won't pay for Xbox Live Gold?"
