Nibris hooks publisher for mature-themed Wii title
Nibris has announced that it's found a publisher for its atmospheric horror game, Sadness. However, due to a non-disclosure agreement, the Poland-based developer can't reveal the publisher's name just yet. Here's a hint: with themes like narcolepsy, nyctophobia, and paranoid schizophrenia, it's not Nintendo -- or is it ... ?

I'm glad to see that the Wii may in fact be seeing more "mature" titles, as long as they are well done, and not simply trying to cash-in on being "mature".
I haven't heard anything about this game, is it more of a survival-horror title, or an adventure game? Something entirely different for the Wii perhaps?
DarkMavis @ Jul 20th 2006 12:40PM
I heard it's entirely in black and white.

From what I know of the game and the ideas that have been thrown around when talking of the title, it seems more puzzle based. I rememeber them giving an example of having to swing a lasso rope ontol a hook to climb up it, actually haveing to swing the Wii remote like a lasso. Sounds interesting for sure but damn I wanna see some screenshots. So far...nothing has been shown aside from a live action commercial shown at E3.

All the known information should be on the Wikipedia page

I'm tired of hearing from people that Nintendo is a kiddy system. Did anyone play Conker's Bad Fur Day on N64? Or was I the only one? You know... the game that has bad words the X-box version cut out.
There's something wrong with the universe when the X-box version won't allow stuff the N64 version has.
Resident Evil 4, Killer7 and versions of Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia should show enough Nintendo wants and likes the M Rated titles. I don't know what the big deal is with it being a kiddy system.

The game takes place in pre-WorldWarI 1900s. It is played in black and white. You can only use what you can find in the environments as weapons.
Sounds pretty good to me. I'm excited that lesser known developers are going to be able to release offerings for the Wii. That could easily make a huge game library and some inventive gameplay.

If the game is anywhere near as creative as it has been described up to now and has even decent execution, it will be a must have title of the next generation. The question is, will they be able to live up to it?

Go to Projects, pick Sadness from the list it gives you then scroll down for a sort of teaser video. Theres no actual in-game footage, but it does set the mood for what kind of game they want to put together...
Either way, Im picking this up the day it comes out. Nibris seems like a very promising developer, and Im glad they finally got a publisher for their third project. ^_^

i never was interested in getting a wii
but now that i've seen this (and the trailer) i'm sold.
Raynre @ Jul 20th 2006 2:02PM
Think of it this way: Its like a slightly less violent (maybe) version of Phantasmagoria. =D
Me wanty...
Stoof @ Jul 20th 2006 2:35PM
I think it is Nintendo because they were interviewed and they said Nintendo was helping them.
h2c @ Jul 20th 2006 2:36PM
Wow Raynre (#11), way to bring it back with Phantasmagoria.
Wasn't that game like 11 CDs or something? I remember laughing at the number of CDs. While I thought it was a freaky game, I also remember getting bored and skipping my way to the end.
Wow this also brings me back to 7th Guest...11th Hour...ah memories.
vidGuy @ Jul 20th 2006 2:54PM
Oh man, 7th Guest and 11th Hour. I think I'll virtual PC a Windows 95 desktop up so I can load those again. I know I have the disks somewhere...

I'm guesing it's Nintendo due to the fact that Nintendo is all about helping small third-parties' dreams come into fruitation this generation.

Hey, after all the critical praise that Eternal Darkness got (another Nintendo-published title), I don't see why they wouldn't pick up this title themselves. Seems they've been working for a bit now to shed themselves of the so-called "Disney of Video Games" image... and this game would certainly help.
raindog @ Jul 21st 2006 1:17AM
I dunno, it sounds good, but I'm getting kind of a Duke Nukem Forever vibe off of these guys.
John Lucas @ Jul 23rd 2006 11:22PM
As soon as I saw the mention of this game & the concept I knew this was one of my look-for titles.
I can't WAIT until it comes out!
Looks VERY interesting!
That Wii is gonna be a MOTHER next-gen!!
