Oh, Penny Arcade -- they weren't game-related this week, but we loved their little sketch en route to Comic Con 2006. Here are our picks for the best comics of the week, sorry if we missed any and sorry if this posted a little bit late today (we'll tell you why in an upcoming post). Be sure to vote for your favorite!
I rather enjoyed this weeks Hooked on polygons, though my feelings are a little bit hurt that this weeks RPG-TV ( http://www.skush.com/rpgtv/?strip=67 )wasn't up for it considering how game relatedy it is... I hope this isn't because of our spelling mistake last week lol.
whoa.. #6 after looking at that boxart it looks more like simon is wearing hot pants... bizzare. VG cats gets my vote.. plus i liked the poster in the background the one that says "READ!" followed by "the instruction manual" i'd always go straight to the game when i buy a new one then feel dumb for not reading the instruction manual in the first place when i can't figure out some small detail *sigh* such a noob i can be.
VG Cats is definitely the funniest out of these, but I'm going to have to vote for Digital Double. Merely because they have a picture of my idol Alton Brown.
For me, it was a tie between Alarm! and Super Door. Alarm! was appealing in general, but Super Door appealed to me as a gamer, with many a game before (and even now) where my character had to take the scenic route because there was the impenetrable split-rail fence in the way or the stream of nevermore that, although is only ankle deep, cannot be crossed by us mere mortals.
The last few weeks of the Noob have been quite funny. http://www.thenoobcomic.com/index.html they might not have won even if you had included them, but the exploits of Fred the Dread and Ohforf each week have grown on me since I found them a few months ago. One of the nice things about this strip is how easy it is to start at the first strip and then catch up. just go to http://www.thenoobcomic.com/daily/strip001.html and click the 'next' link about 200 times... it is also fun to watch the style of the artist develop over the 201 strips so far... last weeks strip number 200 is a real tour de force http://www.thenoobcomic.com/daily/strip200.html Please consider this strip for regular inclusion in the weekly vote Cheers Windy
I don't normally like Concerned, but I did enjoy the topic of "super doors". Sorry Scott, but I have to vote for something other than VG Cats this week.

I'm glad Concerned was good. If it wasn't we would have no other good comics to vote for.

Awesome to see us in this week! It's also great that Digital Unrest made it. I love that strip!

Seems pretty obvious to me that Simon Belmont wore shorts. Except in the second Castlevania, when he did wear pants.
Now, if we want to talk about Pit and his lack of pants, that's fair game.
Chris @ Jul 22nd 2006 3:33PM
I guess it depends on what artwork you're looking at, but going by the official artwork on the box of the original Castlevania:

I'd say he's definitely out of the realm of shorts and firmly sits in the world of underwear briefs, boxer briefs at best.

I loved the VGCats one!!! (I'm feeling some déjà vu... but I
really did :x)I also liked the cartridge comics one

being funny I mean :X)

Hooked On Polygons I guess goes over a lot of readers heads, but I think it's consistently smart, funny and always well drawn.

Does that make me shallow? Or just hungry?
jodyanthony @ Jul 22nd 2006 6:48PM
I voted for Digital Double, not only because of the Alton Brown shot, but because it was simple and funny.

@Tad: Master swords are the ultimate kitchen multitaskers!

That Peter Jackson looks like Dennis Miller. Like, alot.
rockintom99 @ Jul 23rd 2006 5:03AM
Though this isnt often for doing VG comics, i would say both these are much funnier than the standard webcomic:
