So, capitalizing on the collective ignorance of millions of people in the singular quest for political gain and power--a vintage politician, I suppose.

"If that happens, it will be a good day to be Canadian..."

Correction. It is always a good day to be Canadian. :)

The problem with this is just like with cigarettes it's a worthless useless tax. It's a penalty tax.

I don't smoke & never will but I think it's BS for there to be tacked on taxes on cigarettes & other tobacco related products. It certainly doesn't stop people from smoking & it certainly doesn't affect tobacco companies. They're probably validated by hooked smokers spending MORE to support their habit & see that as a sign to hike up costs even more.

Those kinds of taxes only serve to bilk common citizens out of their money for government waste. Just want more of your money.

I don't know if you American readers remember this but this country was FOUNDED on the basis of a government putting fees on recreational things people used in their everyday lives. People liked to drink tea & play cards & old British government taxed the hell out of them to pay for recent costly wars.

Life is about enjoyment & pleasure. What's the point of working when you can't sit down & enjoy yourself with these little artifacts of civilization?

The citizens got angry when the government was intruding on their fun & pleasure doing basically legalized jackmoves on their wallets. And a revolution was fought because of it.

Hillary Clinton like nearly ALL politicians (still got hope for Obama & McKinney) are fake & just abuse the power GRANTED TO THEM BY THE CITIZENS (never forget that) to make money insulating themselves in comfort at the EXPENSE of those citizens.

All this routine is is a way to scam a few votes for re-election much like desperate Bush FINALLY meeting the NAACP to see if he can't scrounge up a few black votes after Hurricane Katrina ruined the supension of disbelief.

The woman couldn't care less about games. By scaring luddite-ish unknowledgable-about-gaming parents & making a big fuss like this she guarantees more voters in her camp & has more to run on when she finally decides to run for President.

Honestly folks Democrats AND Republicans suck. *F* BOTH of them. And 3rd party is no guarantee that things will go right either as they can become JUST as corrupt. Something about that power thing & corruption.
I really don't know about American government anymore. The system is designed to keep real problem solvers out & creates a barrier through money levels.

Until this is resolved it really doesn't matter who you vote for. They are all controlled by these corporations anyhow.
The only hope is for some genuine & honest person to get by on a fluke & gain position.

Somebody who remembers what this country is supposed to stand for & who is looking to make this country work for all not just a few. Freedom of lifestyle & freedom from governmental overstep.

*Don't* vote for Hillary *Just Because* of her proposals on a videogame tax??

Damn straight.

Don't vote for ANYBODY who's not making this country better for the working class. 'Cause without the working class you don't HAVE a country.

Anybody But Bush was never enough.

Silly tax -- I'm guessing this is some kind of joke. How will they define "video game"?

Does Solitare make Windows a video game?

Not to make this absolutely any worse than it is, but if a woman is going to run for office, it better not be that video game hating Clinton, hope for Condi 08'. I think she's with Bush because he gave her the opportunity, not that she believes evereything he says (at least I sure as hell hope not). Anyways, if something like this were to pass, it would even further my want to make a quick hop over to canada or somewhere where laws are simply outrageous.

"The only thing the govt needs to provide us is defense and education. Everything else, the private sector can provide."

Get real. You obviously don't realize how much the things paid for by taxes improve your life.

How can games be compared to smoking.

Thats liek comparing a piece of lettuce to a WMD.

Hilary Clinton needs to STFU and get off the senate. I believe she is of no use to the nation merely because she is an idiot...and absolute idiot.

Violent games aren't a problem. Why is there an anti-gaming league when there are horribly violent movies out there. Now I indeed love movies. but ibelieve there should be more attention paid to movies that games.

I mean there are movies like hostel out there. And you kno kids have seen hostel.

And so many movie promoting marijuana (not saying thats a bad thing).

anyways.

Putting special taxes on something that a large number of idiots are against does not prove intelligent. You might as well put taxes on porno. Hell put special taxes on comics and while you're at it put special taxes on energy drinks and the internet.

I hope hilary reads this and takes my advice of cutting out her tongue and eyes and feeding them to a dog.

They should tax Hillary for breathing to be honest. Shes a waste of valuable air and should be squashed like a bug. If parents are concerned about children playing violent games then monitor them and don't BUY THE GAMES FOR THEM.

The people buying the games are usually ages 12-25. The majority of them don't have jobs or are in college. Like they need more money taken from them. It's the parents fault for allowing the kids to play these games then complaining about them being too violent. Also many congressmen and women don't even play video games so they have no idea what they're talking about.

What are the stipulations? I'm pretty sure she isn't going to tax reading rabbit, which is a game played on a video screen to teach kids about reading. Would educational games(legit ones, not pretty much anything on xbox), be counted?

What about like Gran turismo? Is paper mario taxed? What about vegas videopoker? where's the line? Maybe it's only violent ones that she is going to tax, but where's the line? It's far too broad a stantement to "tax videogames".

Also, just to let you know, these taxes are perceived by those that impose them more of as deterrents, not necessarily penalties. They hope with taxes on cigarettes, that it will help you realize that they're bad for you AND more costly to buy. Besides, the more they cost the less you can buy, because they think they're bad for you. In the case of cigarettes, yeah, but videogames?

There are other games out there than GTA and Doom Hillary. Play some of them.

instead of sitting here compliaing on the internet you should all email your congressman and senator and try and get them to do something about it. the worst thing that can happen is better then sitting here and waiting for the tax to be imposed. even if the tax fails there will be other issues revolving around video games that we must rise up against and defeat.

if you dont know who your congressman is google "email my congressman" or something like that to find a link to his or her web page.
