You may still buy a PS3 for the sequals it offers but some people want new, fresh content. Even so with titles that are on the PS3 its not really a big deal. You mentioned Killzone? Why would anyone bring up that god awuful excuse for an FPS. The next RE and Winning Eleven are both gonna multiplatform. So you have Silent Hill (2 of which have appeared on the xbox), god of war (sequal is coming to the PS2 and if theres a PS3 one who knows how long thats gonna take to develop), MGS, and Final Fantasy. Both of the last ones have appeared on the xbox or 360 in some way. So let me ask you if you think that for someone with 700 dollars to spends on any next gen console, would a PS3 with MGS and FF be worth it? For that same price you could get (I'm just going by the games being 50 bucks and not tax) a premium 360 with xbl for one year, Gears of war, Dead Rising, N3, Mass effect, and MS pts for awesome live arcade games. Now I just listed 4 exclusive 360 games, there could also be Too Human, Assasin's Creed, Bioshock (coming next year), the only next gen Splinter Cell, R6, Oblivion, GRAW, and loads more coming and already out. Where as for the PS3 you have some sequals like MGS, FF, DMC, etc. and some remakes of things like Warhawk. Now theres Heavenly sword but thats basically a GoW rip-off and you know it.

The golden age of exclusivity for the console titles has gone - that was the last generation.

Sure, there will always be some exclusive titles, but there will be many, many less compared to the last console generation, and most important of all, significantly less of the (3rd party) big blockbuster titles will be exclusives.

Why? Simple. Money. As games get bigger and better, development costs soar. Third pary development companies require a return on their huge investment, so they develop for multiple platforms.

So please, fanboys, don`t get upset when your favourite franchise or next gen title goes cross platform, this is just the way things are going in the big, bad, gaming world.

To 50.

I keep hearing that the PS3 offers "So much more" than the 360, but I`ve not heard anyone actually define what that is, over and above the betamax dvd drive?

Actual, real quote:

"So, I'm not going to say definitvely say, 'Absolutely free!,' but by and large, I would not be suprised if most of them were free of charge for basic online play."

-Kaz Hirai in Game Informer #159 regarding cost of Sony's online service.

I think 360 will see Assassin's Creed before PS3 owners see "free" online gaming with the quality of Xbox Live.

"Also on July 25, Computer and Video Games' online site hosted a preview of Assassin's Creed on the Xbox 360. At Ubisoft's official Assassin's Creed forum, UK Community Manager UbiRazz commented and said this was all based on CVG's personal speculation and nothing given from Ubisoft."

Taken From Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassin's_Creed, seems nothing is confirmed..

you must buy the premium version of the ps3 to get 1080p resolution. the cheap system won't support it, it doesn't have hdmi output. xbox 360 will be getting an hd-dvd drive, so it may support 1080p resolutions with a firmware update. sony's blu-ray discs may or may not be limited in what they can display, it's up to the content providers. Blu-ray players must follow AACS guidelines pertaining to outputs over non-encrypted interfaces. This is set by a flag called the Image Constraint Token (ICT), which restricts the output-resolution without HDCP to 960×540. The decision to set the flag to restrict output ("down-convert") is left up to the content provider. this applies to their GAMES as well because they are in essence blu-ray dvd's. sony's gaming network may be free to start, but i doubt it will stay that way for long. sony is attempting to build a worlwide gaming network from scratch to compete with an already well established and well proven system against microsoft, who just happens to be the biggest software company, with a specialty in business networking and network computing. game exclusivity is a thing of the past, now it might be a timed exclusive. most third party developer's now make cross platform games, so i don't doubt to see almost every game coming out be available on all systems. it's just easier and cheaper to develop for the 360 and pc since they are basically one and the same. it's just more expensive to code for the ps3. and the ps3 is using Linux for God's sake! can you use a more stone age technology? or how about just asking to be cracked and hacked? security exploits will be sure to follow because of the cell processor's unstable memory heirarchy. some will say, oh but window's is safe right? it is because it's the most popular and most often attacked, so bugs are exposed and fixed faster than any other os. sorry to say it but it's true. and nobody is hacking the windows kernel and distributing it either like you can with linux. sony has stated that it wants people to develop content for the ps3 that is not tied to any licenses or official companies, so beware ps3 heads, you may download a program that is a virus or trojan rather than a game.
"Because we have plans for having Linux on board [the PS3], we also recognize Linux programming activities… Other than game studios tied to official developer licenses, we'd like to see various individuals participate in content creation for the PS3."
—Izumi Kawanishi on the presence of the Linux in the PS3.
now on to pc vs 360. well this is easy. sure pc online play may be free, but only to an extent. remember that you have to shell out about 2g's for a system that is semi-decent enough to play the good games. hardcore gamers shell out more like 4 to 7g's for the optimal setups. to put that in perspective you can buy a completely optimized 360 and still have enough money left over for a lifetime subscription to xbox live. anyway you cut it, microsoft has the best field advantage here. the only real competition is nintendo if you ask me. graphics may suck but gameplay has always been legendary, and nintendo is poised to strike. between the wii or ps3 i give the nod to the wii. i don't hate sony, i buy sony products, but the ps3 doesn't look to be anything more than a bark with no bite. maybe in a few years, after the price comes down, if there are any titles on it that haven't come out for the 360, i might consider buying it.

"As I’ve stated before, Assassin’s Creed is due for release on the PlayStation 3 and no other platforms have been confirmed at this time. With regards to the CVG article, this has nothing to do with Ubisoft, it has not been written based on any information we have supplied, and is purely CVG’s writer’s own thoughts/ideas/beliefs."

Is that enough for you MS fanboys? That came from Ubisoft Comunity Manager UbiRazz

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to remember also that while Sony is setting up the centralized network for the PS3, they're leaving the development and implementation of any online modes a game has to the game developer. Nice of them to provide a central hub with tracking, friends, matchmaking, etc., but the developers themselves will have to host the actual game servers and provide customer service.

In contrast, MS has it's hand in every game with XBox Live capability, to ensure quality control and a streamlined/easy online gaming experience. MS also provides the customer service for all Xbox Live games. This is why you pay for Xbox Live.

Just a thought.
