Press release decoder says Wii to launch October 2

In a portable games press release out today, Nintendo beckoned the blogosphere to bite the following speculation: "Perhaps the secret to the launch information for Wii is somehow encoded in the text of this news item." The bait has been taken. Gaming Target writes:

The fourth quarter begins on October 1. Now look at the list. At least one game is released every Monday in the fourth quarter except for the following dates: October 2, November 20 and November 27. November 27 is after Black Friday, so it's out. November 20 is after the launch of the PS3, so that's out too. That leaves us with October 2. The Wii will launch on October 2.

We like their sound decoding work but heaven forbid the company decides to release the console on the same day as another platform game.

It's pure sarcasm. I assure you there are no hints or codes.

So, if this article is right - where is the evidence IN THE NEWS RELEASE that the date is correct? It doesn't say anywhere in the news release that it won't be released after Black Friday or the PS3, does it? The only thing the news release says is that the date is encoded in the message. I would look at things like:

"One of two." - This suggests 12, or the first ____ of the second _____.

Final Fantasy 5 - Obviously, the number 5 plays a part here.

James Bond - The number 007 might play a part here.

Wii Launch Date: November 20th

Here's why:

The press release lists the dates of upcoming DS games as Oct. 9, Oct. 16, Oct. 23, Oct. 30, Nov. 6, Nov. 13, Dec. 4. Notice something? They're listing every Monday from Oct 9th to Dec 4th with 2 Mondays missing, Nov. 20th, and Nov. 27th. That's right around Thanksgiving, and if I'm not mistaken I think they stated before that's when they were looking to launch.

But if thats not enough to make you believe then check this out:

At the beginning of the press release they state:

"Perhaps the secret to the launch information for Wii is somehow encoded in the text of this news item."

And near the bottom they say

"An enhanced version also will be a launch title for Wii. That will all happen on … Oh look, we're out of space."

I think the secret may lie in the following sentance:

"That will all happen on … Oh look, we're out of space."

There are 11 words in the entire sentance, and in the last part "Oh look, we're out of space." there are 20 characters.

11 words = 11th month
20 characters = 20th day
