I'd rather them make something more like Kameo or anything that's it's own game apart from everything else. No more with this WWII nonesense that companies have become infatuated with. Wii need originality!

Can I get an American Revolution game? Civil War? 1812?

At this point, we know all about the Nazis. (They were demonic sorcerers, right?) Nobody objects to them being villains. But American on American violence? We may never see a successful game based on the Civil War. People would overreact, there would be riots in the streets, Hillary Clinton would level up and get all new spells, (dogs and cats living together) mass hysteria.

Unfortunately, WW2 is the only "safe" war for games.

Lol at nintendo fanboys, look how happy they are to get a sequel to an average game that is also coming out on both the ps3 and the 360.

while 360 and ps3 fans fighover great games like assasins creed, devil may cry 4, and half life 2, there is no talk of wii versions.

but i guess with only 8 confirmed launch titles, wii fans will be happy with any games that comes to the wii, even if they arent any good.

This is good news. Although I was hoping that this new generation would leave behind developers' infatuation with WWII, I guess having Gearbox along for the ride is a definite plus.

7. Dracula Jones: "Can I get an American Revolution game? Civil War? 1812?"

We can't have a Civil War game here in the US because some places in the south still think they won. Don't you watch Family Guy or South Park?

Are these companies even pledging Wii support because they truly think the console will sell well or are they all just doing it so they don't look like assholes?

It reminds me of like where the "high head" says something and then everyone else does just so they don't get shit about it.

Imagine driving army vehicles with an ExciteTruck control scheme with the Wiimote? That would differentiate the Wii version from the rest in an awesome way.

Haha, there are great launch titles for the Wii, and if you think their aren't, continue in your fanboy rage, because WII (pun intended) DON'T CARE if you do not want to play the Wii, just do not bash systems for the purpose of "furthering the pwnageness of X360 and PS3." Some people here are just saying "Yay! I like the Brothers in Arms series, glad it's coming to the Wii." MS and Sony fanboys say stuff like that ALL THE TIME, just like everyone else. I've even heard of a ton of MS and Sony fanboys who REALLY wanted to play the Ninty franchises, but instead played the stuff on their system. You see, bashing people on the internet helps NOTHING!

There are many that would love some Crusades video games. I'm sure that would be bunches of fun. Or maybe some Cold War simulators. How about the Iran/Iraq War? Maybe the Seven-Day War? Or perhaps the Hundred Years' War?

Have there been any WWI games yet? Maybe a game where you can line up the Archduke Ferdinand in your sniper, and if you miss, the game is over right then? That'd be fun.

Hey "haha", assasins creed, devil may cry 4, and half life 2? Are you sure you wanna use THOSE games for your argument? Let's see, assassins creed = unknown game, big claim to fame is the "crowd engine", sure it's from a well known studio but even great studios can release stinkers. Devil May Cry 4 = *yawn* another sequel of a generic action game, ninja gaiden and god of war do this genre soooo much better. Half life 2 = how old is this game already? Oh, so PC's can still play it with mouse/keyboard controls AND higher resolutions, hmmm nevermind.

Games I would have accepted in your argument: Gears of War, Mass Effect, Bio Shock, Heavenly Sword, Warhawk. Now THOSE are games I'm sad to say won't be showing up on Wii. But don't forget Wii will have the strongest first party support by THE most critically acclaimed games publisher of all time... Nintendo. So, yeah I'm a little excited that it's also being shown some third party support too, so sue me.

bia: rth30 (xbox) - 88
bia: eib (xbox) - 85
devil may cry 2 - 68 (ouch!)
devil may cry 3 - 84 or 89 (SE)

wow- look at those amazing ps2 sequels youre waiting for! well, at least I can't call you out on assassin's creed- cause it's not out yet.

maybe he's just upset that the ps2 versions of bia came up short? someone call the whambulance.

bia coop is nothing short of console bliss on xbox live. and i cant wait to play it online on my wii.

It seems to me that many developers and publishers are just now pledging their support for the Wii after the promising public reaction it had at E3 and the positive buzz Nintendo has had ever since. It's their way of testing the waters with Wii (no pun intended) in the hopes that their initial investment might create large dividends for them if the console becomes a huge hit.

These companines are simply playing it safe by developing a proven genre game (WWII FPS) for Ninty's new console for a much lower price than it would cost to develop the same game for the 360 or the PS3. This way if the Wii succeeds then they too can make a profit and at a small price.

Nintendo has become something of a liability in the eyes of the industry, and while they've proven themselves vastly competent in the portable market, their competence in the home console market is another story completely as of late.

It just makes perfect business sense.

Unfortunately this means that we won't be seeing any amazing third-party Wii games until the next batch of games comes out. Nintendo has always shown their third-party devs how to make great games for their systems, it's just up to the devs to commit themselves to make their games good enough to reach higher success.

@Dracula Jones: A revolutionary war FPS would be amazing, but I doubt anyone will do a good one which is a real shame. On the bright side, if you own Half-Life, you can check out a Revolutionary War mod which I personally love. It gives you a taste of what a game like that would be

The more support Nintendo gets, the better.

I could care less who's graphics are the best; just give me mouse+keyboard-esque controls in FPS with the Wiimote and I'll be happy.

I'm hoping for a scifi shooter along the lines of what project snowblind could have been. I haven't played the original half life in a long time but gearbox's excellent opposing forces expansion draws me back once in a while. Gearbox knows how to make action driven squad combat as good as anyone. Hopefully they can package it to be a bit more original than another Band Of Brothers in Blood.
