Sony just keeps handing us the ammo on a silver platter, eh? I can't imagine a worse name, really(one that's actually useable...don't post saying that cock sap is worse...:P). You hit the nail on the head, it doesn't even make sense.

After spending $600 dollars on a game system I guess your entitled to call it anything you want. Next, not a friends list or buddy list, but a pal list. Join your pals online for some gaming and collect some entitlements.

It's a well-known fact that the only thing you need to do to steal an idea is come up with a different name or slightly different function/look and use PR to claim the idea as "already in development" before you "knew about the competition." Sony is original, because SONY GODDAMN SAYS IT'S ORIGINAL. Stop whining =P.

I just went into iTunes, and I can't find "this week's podcast" with the person in question- he was most recently on a few weeks ago.

Are we sure he was being totally truthful? It IS EGM, after all. :/

Never mind, it is that podcast. It's the one from 7/19/06.

Be forewarned: EGM is notoriously pro-Sony, and actually don't really bash the idea. Then they proceed to talk about how they think Sony can come through and make a better system. They do bash it (PS3) a little as far as online is concerned, but hardly enough to make it worth the listen.

EGM is NOT WORTH reading anymore! They haven't been for a LONG TIME!!! Plus, why would anyone want to read a magazine that is always one month behind the Internet! Sony Playstation 3 = Fony Plagiarization 3DO

WOW, just when you think Sony can't get any lower they keep pulling out the hits!! It's really funny when you hear the pres. of Sony say "Every time the look back MS is behind them coping their idea's" WTF!! The PS3 is going to be a copy of both the 360 and the Wii, maybe we should call it the "WiiBox 3". I think Sony is in REAL trouble and everyone see's it but them!!

pathetic really. I mean they coulda called them anythign they wanted to. "Props, Stars, Dings, etc." Even some made up word would have been fine. It doesn't really matter what the name would have been, it would have just gotten adopted by the community and they could have coined a term. But Entitlements? It's like some kind of Japanese Engrish. They don't seem to know what the word means.

I got the impression that the term "entitlements" referred to the credit you would earn by achieving certain things. My perception was it would be like MS offering X amount of MS Points as a "reward" for completing certain or all achievements.

I'm thinking it's Sony's attempt at making a viable way to reward gamer's with goods/services for making gaming accomplishments, like free gamer pics, themes etc, to liken it to Xbox Live.

Either way, some games on 360 have unlockable bonus content like that already, so it's not much new from Sony.

By the way - Whether they are "entitlements", "achievements", or "badges"... Who introduced this concept first? I had never seen this type of abstract reward since Pogo.com began, before their acquisition by EA.

If they're really going to call this "entitlement", they should have looked in any English dictionnary before! I hope they're gonna change the wording since there are so many BETTER terms out there

Good to know that PS3 will also have achievements, even if them are calling it with another name and the idea is stolen :P

The concept of Achievements is cool, more consoles with it is better, at least for me because I have plans to have both xbox360 (already have) and PS3 (soon).

Sony could call them "badges" or "goals" or something. "Entitlements" has to be the dumbest thing they could have named their game achievements.

Is Sony as dense as they are shameless?.....Why yes, I believe the are.

Sony seems to just be taking things from the other consoles and just smashing them together to make theirs.

First killing the first original idea they had in years, the new controller design, and going with their over 10 year old design with NO RUMBLE, now their taking ideas directly from the 360 and just renaming them. I would think Sony would create their own, unique system but their just taking MS's idea...

Then they come back and try to say MS is copying off of them. How hypocritical can they be? Sony needs to quit blowing hot air, its bad practice in my opinion.

Thats it. I am done with Sony forever. Do something creative for once. If I wanted "entitlements", I would get achievements on my 360.

If you are going to rip off the competition and then charge me $200 more for the same system, why should I buy your system again? Right. I won't!

In other news, Nintendo's WiiConnect24 will use the "Swag" system, as in "I got 15 Swag for completing the first dungeon in Twlight Princess."
