Any RTS from Bliz will surely be a good RTS, but a Starcraft 2 announcement would be my favourite scenario!

i give starcraft 2 another 10 years (i.e. Mother 3) than they'll drop it on us .. . most annoying thing is that there have been countless warcraft sequels, expansion packs, etc.. . but starcraft gets no love .. . we got brood wars, that's it .. .

Starcraft has the best RTS storyline of all RTS imo (factoring in how old it was, etc) It was just so unbelievably fun and I really want to know what happens with Kerrigan and the rest of the Starcraft Universe.

Go Jim Raynor!!!

the fact Starcraft was on N64 tells me they need a sequal.

I mean how many RTS' were there on the consoles. clearly its a winning game

They should release it in the states a full year before anywhere else...

...we need a head start so we can even hope to compare to the Koreans.

Blizzard is just screwing around with the license. Why o why have they not come out with a sequel or another expansion pack or something. Why are they giving it no attention. Man it is just so good they have to do something more with it. Hopefully soon. Its like they are treating it like a little bastard child that they would just like to forget. It's just frustrating to hear so little about what going on with starcraft over the past years and then see them focus so much on their other IPs. Enough with WoW already. Its already a hit. Leaving it alone a bit to get some work done on a current starcraft release won't hurt it.
YA HEAR ME BLIZZARD!!!

I'd settle for "Starcraft DS" while we're waiting for Starcraft 2.

If starcraft was on DS (like i've been hoping since DS came out), it would be the end all to everything.

online battles. portable starcraft.

oh my. I don't have to say anything else. it would just be the best.

other titles I'd like to see on DS but aren't going to happen would be diablo and or Unreal Tournament (online of course)

What would be better is still an MMO for Starcraft though. Perhaps it could be done like a Natural Selection/Planetside hybrid (Or Starcraft/Shattered Galaxy hybrid for more unit control...), thus fulfilling both RTS and MMO requirements?

Think of this one.

Starcraft with a 3D graphics that's as good/better than HomeWorld2.

I'm creaming....

Picture the Interceptors coming out of the Protoss Carriers in 3 freakin D.

Picture the Swarm in 3D.

WTF are they waiting for? Come ON BLIZZARD!!!!

It's a no brainer.

I think they are some how giving the starcraft community a hint with the new patch(released yesterday), atleast that is how i see it. In the new patch, the SC/BW shortcut icons change, they are now 3d. When i first saw i took it as a hint of things to come, i may be wrong but it would be great if it were real.

What would be funny is if they announce a new expansion pack for StarCraft. Hahaha...

Somehow, I doubt that with the popularity of World of Warcraft, that they'll ever do a sequel to WarCraft III/WoW. Currently WoW is dictating the lore of the series, and with every single patch (and expansion packs, of course) building up towards to the inevitable fight with the Lich King, a WarCraft IV would just not be feasible.

Whether or not it's a sequel to StarCraft, again, is pure speculation... but the fact is that Blizzard is gearing up for either a new and original RTS IP, or (finally) a sequel to StarCraft that fans have been clamoring for. Many people DID express their wish to see a StarCraft sequel after the StarCraft: Ghost announcement yknow...

hmm. I too would love a starcraft in 3D.
and maybe some more convenient control functions

especially, a real way to control more than 1 person at a time, or deal with groups over 12.

just some extra stuff.

the only thing I would worry about is, a lot of starcrafts poularity comes from its simplicity. point and click. minerals and gas. stuff like that.

hopefully they don't overload it, that's all.

if they actually do anything, that is...

Ok, anyone who listens to Gaming Steve is going to know why what I'm about to say is the truth, but for the rest of you I'll illustrate on it.

Starcraft 2 will not be released for years. If I had to pick a year maybe 2009 or 2010.

This may shock many of you accustomed to sequal after sequal until a franchise is run into the ground but I assure you there are very logical reasons that Blizzard are following.

First of all, they're definately not under any financial pressure whatsoever. They have the possibly biggest cash-cow that has ever existed in gaming right now in WoW. They are STILL making impressive steady profits on Starcraft, it consistently sells in the top 10 in South Korea and has a very long tail in most developed countries.

Speaking of South Korea, Starcraft is their national sport, and Blizzard will not jeporidize this by releasing a sequal that may clash or be disparaged by the elite korean gamer. That would be a very dumb move. Imagine if someone announced that they've invented Football v2.0 and that is the definitive version of the game. Thats a stupid idea and inconcievable to a football fan, just like doing such a thing with Starcraft would be. Until the interest in this sport wanes and leads to a drop off in sales, Blizzard will keep the stimulant of a sequal in the bag just waiting.

Blizzard is the only developer I know of that has made no bad...hell...no merely decent games. Diablo is a classic, Starcraft is a religious experience and WoW is an addiction. This is a company that made Starcraft:Ghost TWICE and canned it, because it didn't meet their high standards. A Starcraft game would have made a profit regardless of quality but they didn't release a substandard game because they didn't need to.

Starcraft 2 will be a long long long time coming. However, I drool over the idea of Starcraft for the DS or Diablo.

First, Blizzard has stated recently in several interviews that the company intends to continue to develop ALL of their IP lines (Starcraft, Warcraft, and Diablo) well into the next decade. What flavor (MMO, RTS, etc.) and what platform (console, PC, portable) remain to be seen. But, we *will* see some sort of game with Starcraft and Diablo, and even something beyond WoW.

Right now, however, word has it that 1) 80% of the company's resources are dedicated to WoW, and that 2) there are strong rumors that 2 additional expansion packs (beyond the Burning Crusade) are in the works, and that *those* expansion packs will be released fairly soon after the Burning Crusade (like six months apart)...bringing the level cap to a final 100 and rounding out the game with hero classes.

There is no way they won't make a second StarCraft game. The first was amazing and they already have a huge fan base for it. Hell, people are still playing the original. They will make SOOO much money when they relese 2 it won't even be funny. I mean, who wouldn't buy StarCraft 2 ?
