Guild Wars Nightfall pre-release bonuses

So much for "one expansion every six months." Guess they're trying to milk Guild Wars owners for everything they've got.

I have a guild! Its a fun game!

I'm not much of a fan for this whole '2 classes each expansion' thing, it's getting pretty cluttered, not to mention some of them look a tad tacked on. If I do buy Nightfall, it will only be for "Never give up!" "Never Surrender!"

Um, this a preview of the upcoming expansion, seems very similar to the previous chapter preorder packs content wise. Well except the character slot thing. Man, every one seems to think ANet is out to screw over their playerbase....

Recently I have been thinking in trying out an MMO and GuildWars (no montly fee) looks ok to me. But I do not understand, how many versions or quests are there in GW, if you purchase a licence right now will it allow me to play NightFall or only Factions, or shuld I wait for Nightfall release and then buy it. Kind of puzzling.

ArenaNet has a really inaccessible system where you need to buy any given expansion to access that expansion's content. Also, if you messed up during the poorly designed "account merge" process, you can't "re-merge" or otherwise connect your accounts; you have to buy another copy of the game.

I guess that's how they make money. Pretty stupid, if you ask me. They really do have a penchant for screwing over their playerbase. You know what most players are thinking? The two new classes from the "Factions" expansion will probably be abandoned (no new items, skills, quests, etc.) just because ArenaNet is too lazy to continue to work on them.

@ TianXia, if they were trying to milk us for everything we have, they'd be charging a monthly fee like every other MMO does. WoW players pay something like $15 a month, on top of having to buy the game for $50 or so.

@ Haha If you buy the original game, you get access to all of it's quests and content, which will keep you occupied for a long time. If you want to add to the experience, or skip the original entirely, you can just go with factions (at least, as i understand it) which is set in a new land, and has lots of new stuff. If you have both the original flavor and factions, you'll have access to everything (that's a part of the game through factions). I imagine Nightfall will be the same story.

It sounds like fun stuff to me! I'm not much of an mmo player, which is why I chose GW to begin with; no monthly fee is very attractive when you find yourself wanting to play an mmo only once every few months. Still, I'm sure I'll get this expansion when it's released.

I dont think it is like you say. I have GW: Prophecies and i dont have to buy GW: Factions or the incoming Nightfalls to keep playing.

I`ve not been forced to buy one of the expansion to keep playing and by the way they are not expansion they are standalone games.

But if you have Prophecies and Factions your characters can migrate from one game to the another.

This is a great game and a lot of people would like it. I recommend it 100%.

Oh, Guild Wars is a good game, that's why I still play it. Their tendency to ignore the playerbase can be a little offsetting, though. They "nerf" a build every other week.

i just rekon its pretty funny how that black guy's body armour have nipples on them, i wonder what the designers think when they create the charcters, mayb he can shoot laser beams from em'

of course they want to milk their players, they don't do this for fun they want to make money. they can't change to a monthly fee because they want to stand out by not having that. but it's logical they want to release expansions when they can because thats where the money comes from.

@ 1 : This is just the "pre-order" box. Nightfall will be out in the same 6 month timeframe that they originally quoted. GG, though.

GuildWars is great. I have both chapters and plan on getting this one too. I play it just about every night. Very addictive.

I play Prophecies campaign, plenty of quests, missions, and areas to explore. I've beaten the campaign once, but only having explored 50% of the world.

I've played in 3 different guilds, and am currently playing solo. Guilds help you in some respects, but usually come with responsibilities. Guilds usually will want you to participate in Guild matches in the arenas, but in exchange you will usually be able to find help for missions and quests very easily. If it had not been for the guilds I was in for my first time through the game I would not have made it. They helped me level and get to areas I needed to continue the quest.

#4 Haha: Each "expansion" is a game in its own, you don't need to buy the original, they just link together, and usually when the expansions are released something from the expansion changes the rest of the world (see the arena changes after Factions came out)
You can take a character from an expansion and go to prophecies if you own both, and the reverse as well.

#9 davarino: ancient roman armor has nipples, and cut physique, I believe it was meant to intimidate the opponent by making you look even more muscular than reality.

#11 ProjectGSX: yes, but "just" a pre-order it isn't, you get exclusive items that if you don't want you can sell for excessive amounts of gold/plat.

Ive always found this game kind of boring. But I will say this. It suuuure is pretty lol. What I will give them is that there is no monthly fee, so when new expansions come out I think oh well its not like I have to pay a subscription. I can play for as long as I like and when I am tired of it just stop. I just wish everything wasnt instanced. It would be sooo much better then.

I used to play this game none stop but i just haven't been that interested lately. While its very fun it just feels to repetative after five months.

GW is a very very addictive game i give it a 5 outta 5 lol.. but there *expansions* as you call them are not expansions they are in fact their OWN GAME and no you do not have to pay a monthly fee like WoW thats $15 a month or a yearly/monthly/weekly such as EQ (if they have weekly havent played for a long time) GW is a very exciting game I've beaten prophecies 2 times and factions 1 time. this game has great graphics and you can change them to your liking to make it run faster or look better. GW has been very fun the guilds are amazing (been in like 80 lol) but you meet alot of people. I own both obviously and I'm going to buy Nightfall as soon as it comes out ( i just wanna see how good the dervish are ^^) and you can buy more character slots in the GW shop at the character select menu. i have all 8 characters but only 2 are 20 - lol. working on the others though but i recommend this game 100%!!!

oh come on haha i hear people bitching about the nightfall coming up. Personally, i would love it if they come out with new land every 6 months so then i can explore and do more things with it. WOW has expansion too dont they? finished the game but i have only done 2 titles and have only explored 70% of Tyria. There are so much to do in the game. And if you guys dont play 24/7 then you wouldnt be so bored of the game. i love it but only coz i only play 4 hours a day. if you guys want something free why not try silkroad? lol you dont have to buy anything and play free!!!
