If I get a Wii, this game will be among the first ones I get...

maybe its just me, and it probably is, but notice how dude has his 2 index fingers over the top of the controller, as if there were shoulder buttons there.

Corroborate that with the recent picture of the wii-mote with a little purple button toward the top, isn't it possible that the wii-mote has 2 shoulder buttons to be used in 90* mode?

Eh...? yes?

^ Dude, his fingers are there because that's the only comfortable place to put your fingers while holding the wiimote like that.

I mean, look at it! It's so small. So anything that small, and that needs to be held like that has to force you to put you fingers there so it's comfortable.

also think of the years of being conditioned to L and R
buttons across all systems

im gonna stick my fingers straight out and put flags on the ends, because THAT is the most comfortable.

Am I the only one who sees delay between his actions with the Wiimote and what's happening on screen? He tilts it one way and a half second later the character on the screen reacts. It's this kind of stuff that will kill the Wii if it's not fixed. Don't get me wrong, i'm a big Nitendo fanboy and I can't wait to get myself one, but I won't be happy with any sort of controller "delay".

Anyone else reminded of Road Rash by watching that?

#5 it looks like it but i notice that with the smaller movements it wouldnt react as much (or at all) so its probably high sensitivity (if he controlled it it cant be that bad)

I'm more reminded of the SSX series. the wii seems perfect for both skating and snowboarding games.

I don't see much of a delay. If there is one, it's a lot better than that Warhawk demo for PS3.

Ahem the various demos have sensitivity settings. Honestly you have freaking lag when pushing buttons on your regular game controller. Numerous gameplay vids of current gen console games show the same thing that occured in the video.

Yeah, I noticed the lag. I noticed the same thing even more so on the flying game in Wii Sports. This really concerns me. I'm considering just getting the cube version of Twilight Princess for this very reason.

I'm just guessing here, but maybe the lag is due to the underpowered dev kits that were given out earlier. With as far along as this game is, I doubt they've been working with final hardware the whole time (the final dev kits have only been out for a couple months). Basically developers had a GameCube with the control (hence developers saying the "Wii is a glorified GameCube", they didn't have the actual Wii hardware).

So now that the real Wii hardware is out there, developers have a system that is twice what they were using to code games. My guess is that means the lag is gone.

Even if this wasn't the real cause of the problem, I'd give it a 99% chance that Nintendo has fixed the lag situation. Like others have said here, a lag could really ruin this otherwise amazing console.

As someone who loved SSX 3, I am greatly looking forward to more of the same in non-snow-bound arenas. That sounds cynical, but I totally mean it.

I have yet to hear any complaints first-hand about Wii remote lag (just people saying “it looks like there's lag”), and I'm going to keep my rose-tinted glasses on until I do.

Well, I for one am not worried about lag. Nintendo has always been about fantastic control, they're not going to botch that one.

To me the controls look tight already. I think the reason why it appears to be delayed is because we're not playing it - i'm sure, to the player, it felt tight - after all, all controllers have a delay - it's just never been apparent because you can't see exactly what movements people are making on a classic controller.

I must admit I was a bit skeptical about this game when I first heard about it, but seeing it now, i am very excited! I can't wait to get my hands on it.

Hopefully we see that lag disappear. Especially when motion oriented controls is what Nintendo is banking on to sell this console.

anyone know what that cord was coming out of the wiimote? i thought they were wireless...

The cord is probably there because they are using a development kit. I don’t know if it’s a development kit but I just assume they would be using corded controllers on them.

It is an early dev kit controller. Wired. No speaker. Gray with no gloss. An early build of the controller playing an early build of a game on an early build of the console hardware. Just so everyone knows what's going on here.

*VidGuy: "I'm just guessing here, but maybe the lag is due to the underpowered dev kits that were given out earlier."

Lag is a responsiveness issue, not a performance issue. To me, it just looks like the dead zone is *way* too large, which is a software problem. With a setup like this, you may as well use a D-Pad.

Personally, I think the steering-wheel mechanism is completely inappropriate for this kind of game. It doesn't take full advantage of the controller. Next game, please.
