@ that guy

Thank you. I was going to say the exact same. Also considering that the best the GC had to offer rivaled some of Xbox's best efforts, I'd say the Wii should be more than capable of handling an updated version of Farcry. If the controls are there, I'm sold. *

Blazing Angels looked interesting on the 360 but it wasn't enough to make me buy a 360. On wii though, I'd try it out. Rayman...hmmm don't know. Have to see how it turns out. Monster Truck and Open Season are a pass. GT I'm curious about though. Red Steel, I'm curious about as well and if the controls are on point, then I'll have it at launch.
It sounds good to me. Support from an accomplished developer is always good news for new hardware.

Blazing Angels, Far Cry, and Red Steel are all on my "maybe" list. Other than that, this list makes my yawn.

Though I will say that seven launch titles from one company is damn impressive.

All I can say is that the Wii is shaping up to have one of the strongest launches of any console in some time. These additions strengthen the lineup considerably, allowing them to move across several genres. It's rapidly reaching a point where gamers will have to CHOOSE which games to get, which is a rarity for a console launch.

The sudden rush of other developers to announce Wii games in development certainly shows a positive trend. Nintendo appears to have learned their lesson, this time out.

Not trying to be a negative nancy or anything but outside of Red steel and unless far cry has something new to offer... tha tlist is kind of a yawner.
I thought blazing angels was terrible on 360.. not a fan of movie tie ins like Open season, dont like monster trucks and that Racing game MAY be good or it MAY suck (since most racing games do...very few are actually worth shilling money out on.)

But still its good for nintendo to get THAT many more games for launch, regardless of if their ports or not. But man for a big news thing i was hoping for a bit...more i guess *shrug* cant have it all i guess.

Common sense, it seems to me that you would be the kind of person to criticize Ubisoft if they had released games intended to be, as people of your nature might call it, "kiddy" (with serious emphasis on the quotation marks).

We have FarCry which is another "Mature" rated game that can be added to the miniscule list of "Mature" games being released on Wii. Also, we seem to have a few other games rated as "Teen." I'm surprised you're not excited that you now have another chance to show your maturity.

From an objective point-of-view, this is definitely an impressive launch (window) list of upcoming games from one developer, and the damn Wii hasn't even sold a single unit yet! And it's so, so sad, for a person like me, because I haven't been savouring a console...in like...ever. :-/

Damn those PR folks!

I seem to remember a game on XBox Live called Geometry Wars which had graphics my SNES could handle, but somehow tons of graphics-devoted XBox owners seemed to love it so much that for quite a while it was touted as the best game on the 360.

Also, I could buy a Wii and 5-6 of these games for the same price as a 360 without any games. Screw the graphics, I'll take the games.

Hey, commonsense....

If controls are really that negligable, how is the DS beating the PSP?

It might, as you say, not be because the DS's controls are "superior". I'd venture to say the dual and touch screens are, so far, underused.

But it is DIFFERENT!

The fact is, console gamers are tired of the same thing over and over again with better graphics. Why do you think online gaming is doing so well? IT'S NEW and playing with real people adds a sense of spontinaity (spelled VERY wrong I know) that we have never seen.

XBLA is the same. It's a great differentiater for the Xbox 360 because it new and fun to explore....even though the game selection on it is.....shall we say....less than up to date?

This is what Wii is banking on. Play games in a way you never have before. Play new genres of games specifically designed for the Wii. Give a new angle and spin to your familiar favorites.

Yes, there is a possibility the Wii could be written off as a "fad" or "gimmick" if the "newness" wears off to too quickly. But it has the POTENTIAL to keep the newness coming as long as their imaginations keep milking this new angle. If they can't, it will eventually become stale like todays games. If they can it may become the next standard. Nintendo does a have track record for both.

The thing is...you KNOW this. But for some reason, you disagree with their phillosophy, you hate change, or you have a personal beef with the company.

I'm guessing by your tone, it's one of the latter two.

"And marc the only one who could not even be bothered to make a vaid reason or argument. I see you find that because I have a negative star that makes my post less valuable then yours......"

Blah blah blah. That's all I'm hearing.

And you obviously didn't get my point about the whole negative star thing. What I meant was if you didn't always say negative comments, you wouldn't have a negative star.

Second, I want you to show me where I said my opinion is better than yours and where I said it gives me more credibility. Saying that your opinion is better than someone elses is unimaginable. Everyone's opinion is the same.

However, since you decide to downgrade Nintendo before their system is even out is why I said that stuff before. You don't even decide to give the competion a chance. You haven't even tried out the Wii, have you? If you actually did play a game on the Wii, then I'd shut up. But the odds are that you haven't. At least see what the competition trys to offer, before you bad mouth it.

So I suggest that you shut the hell up, and stay on xbox360fanboy.com where you belong. Cause if you don't like anything pro-Nintendo, DON'T LEAVE A COMMENT ON A NINTENDO ARTICLE! (I don't know HOW much more I can stress this)

I'm excited for the Wii too, but can we be honest with ourselves? Blazing Angels was a pretty poor game, and unless they do something dramatic with Farcry -- like an entirely new story and some decent AI -- that's a game that's been recycled what, two times too many?

Ubisoft has made some great games, but don't anyone forget: Ubisoft Paris (same guys working on Red Steel) made XIII and 187: Ride or Die. Man, those games blew.

"revolutionary gameplay with gamecube graphics"

Sounds good to me. In fact, swap "with gamecube graphics" with "with 2600 graphics" and I'm sold.

Hell, just cut off "with gamecube graphics" altogether and leave me with just "revolutionary gameplay" and I'm sold.

"I should've saved my money for the PS3"

Fortunately, I don't have to make that decision. I'll probably end up with all three ... after the PS3 hits about $250 used. Same with 360, though that'll probably be after Christmas. The Wii will probably be $250 new, and I already traded in my Cube for $40 store credit towards the preorder.

How can people get so angry at Nintendo? What they are offering is completely different than 360 and PS3. People just don't get that. What is the greatest about the Wii is that you can still have state of the art graphics with either 360, PC, or PS3. Nintendo, rather than come out with an equivalent to the others, has went with something totally different and affordable enough to take a chance with. Why is that so bad? If you don't want one, don't get one. Don't come on Nintendo threads and cry about it to Nintendo fans. Go try to lose your virginity or something. Jeez.

If Nintendo would have matched 360 with graphics, we'd just see a bunch of 4-way multiplatform games. People should be happy with Nintendo for bringing us consoles, d-pad, diamond pattern button spreads, analog, triggers, wireless controllers, zappers, wiimote (soon), bumper buttons, etc. Basically everything about your gaming experiences first occured on a Nintendo console or a PC. They reinvented console gaming for all the Sony and MS fanboys.

I have a 360 and will get a Wii. The PS3 has little to offer me beyond those two, otherwise I'd have that too. Still play my PS2 though. All three will be great systems for what they are intended for. Just be happy to be a gamer right now unless you are broke.

Every coward and their dog will now claim they believe in and fully support the Wii. When you lack leadership skills, the least you can do is jump on the coolest bandwagon in town.

Hence, Ubisoft and others start to fling game titles left and right.

Wait until you experience the games behind those titles to get excited. FarCry on Wii will have nothing to do with the original FarCry. It doesn't mean it will be a better experience.

At this point in time, jumping on the Wii bandwagon is the most policatically correct and safe thing to do.

I can't remember a console's launch that has ever been this strong. Even if you only consider 2 of those 7 games must-owns (let's say Red Steel and either FarCry or Rayman depending on your tastes), that's two must-own games from a single developer.

Throw in Zelda, Wario Ware, Metroid Prime 3, and a few others (Mario Galaxy in the first 4 months or whatnot), and you've got a console that actually makes you CHOOSE between must-own games at launch. That has never happened before. Also throw in things such as Wii Sports, and you've got a lot of fun on your hands.

Very nice to see Nintendo getting some love from 3rd party developers. Even if some games end up being so-so ports, strong support can only be a good thing. Eventually, we'll see sleeper hits like BG&E come from one of these supporting developers.

With the self-destruction of Sony and the way Nintendo is handling themselves this last year, times look good to be a Nintendo fan. Plus, don't forget you'll actually be able to afford Nintendo's offerings.

Either way, I DO know how to read, and Far cry is not the PC game nor instincts, it is basiclly a new game based on the franchise. That's a good thing.

As far as the preachers of doom goes, these are the same people that stood behind the ps2 because of the games.

Graphical advantange didn't push The Gc over the Ps2, nor the xbox, and the reasons for that are the games. If wii has enough games, then it can pull a playstation and sell lots of units while keeping the fanbase playing, that's what's more important. And that's what I want, games. Not half an hour of technological jargon about the next big flop in computers processors, no sir. I ain't got time for that.

I /love/ how people count the Wii out as a competitor in the graphics arena, yet there hasn't been an official release of final Wii graphics yet. We've seen a lot of preliminary stuff, but no finished games.

I can't wait for some official information later this month. I hope we actually get to see the graphical capabilities of a finished Wii.

*Side Note* There will be more Wii titles than PS3 titles for quite a while. Not a big deal, PSfanboys; It's cheaper to develop for, that's all. And games being produced for the 360 and PS3 are making it to Wii, which means the Wii should be able to handle some pretty powerful titles (like CoD and Assassin's Creed). So, if Nintendo sells enough of these things, all publishers could start releasing a Wii version of every game (except, of course, MS and Sony's first and second party developers).

We'll see.

@81: Don't get your hopes up. The Wii WILL be inferior when it comes to graphics. Do you really think a small and cheap console (that isn't sold at a loss) can compete with huge beasts (that still get overheated, hello 360) that cost 2-3 times as much ? Not going to happen.
But just look at (early Wii) games like Mario Galaxy or Zelda:TP. Those games look great imho.

@84: Who exactly is getting 'old' games here ? Crysis looks amazing, but it's probably going to have the exact same gameplay as Farcry. Eyecandy is fun, but the fun only lasts for a couple of hours.

Wii has the potential to offer something completely different. Red Steel looks a lot 'newer' in my eyes. Instead of running through hallways and fragging everything in sight, we'll actually have to do something different this time around.

And i don't think there has ever been a launch with so many great games? The N64 had Mario (but nothing else), the Xbox had Halo (but nothing else), the Cube had pretty weak launchgames, the PS2 has pretty weak launchgames. The Wii has Metroid AND Zelda AND Red Steel AND ...
On top of that Nintendo has some 'fun' games like Wii Sports and WarioWare that could really appeal to the masses (like Brain Training did for the DS).
This is exactly what Nintendo needs. With great games like this the Wii launch should (!) be a massive succes. And that should be enough to convince a lot of developers to make games for the Wii.

I'm tired of playing the same old games with updated graphics. So i'm rooting for Nintendo all the way!

ps: i'll be buying a 360 and/or PS3 too, because there are some developers that still know how to make great games of course. :)

I'm not entirely sure how you can label Ubisoft as lacking in leadership skills when they're essentially taking a major risk on the Wii. They're the early adopters here. They're taking a gamble (doubling down, as their president puts it) that the Wii will be a success. It's the Midways of the world who are jumping on the bandwagon, while the EAs of the world are sitting on the fence.

For Ubisoft to have these titles ready for the Wii in the launch window, even for a port, they'd have to have committed to them well prior to E3 to get them underway.

As for everyone else, that is to say the fans, it sounds like you don't really have any middle ground: either people have to hate the Wii or be unconditional wannabes (who formerly were just fanboys, but when so many agree, I guess that label won't work).

The fact is that the Wii has done something the PS3 and 360 really haven't done...excited and interested people in the possibilities of the console. The 360 has Xbox-Live as it's killer app (and it's a damn good one) but that's an incremental progression of what came before. The PS/3 has some very attractive titles...but the console itself? Not that thrilling. Part of this is Nintendo's Marketing strategy. Instead of big announcements, they keep hitting us with continual small announcements, keeping the momentum going.

Could the Wii backfire fabulously? Sure, it may. But after E3, the chance of that is significantly less. Far too many people got their hands on it and were more excited afterwards than the other way around. Most of the problems that were encountered were looked on as surmountable software issues. The fact is that, for a launch window, the Wii has more exciting and different games than most consoles have in their first year.

Being excited about a new game franchise like Red Steel or a new play experience like Super Mario Galaxy or a new take on an existing game like Far Cry isn't being a 'coward'...it's being a GAMER.

Sadly to say, a lot of people want to compare the Wii to the 360. It might just be me but it seems like they are not going to be real competition for one another. First, most people realize that the Wii is based on lower end graphics to produce a larger cost difference. Nintendo is going to sell you a very nice console for sub 250$ and games for 50$ or less. The 360 is a 400$ console with 60$ games. Yes, the Wii WILL be better than the PS2/Xbox, but it will not be competitive with the 400-600$ dollar console and 60$ dollar games.

Secondly, since most people think that the Wii is a secondary console, which might you buy, the OVERPRICED PS3 or the xbox360? It's quite clear that Nintendo's wii is what will SINK Sony. Not only do they have to compete with the 360 but also the Wii. Gamers are NOT going to fork over 1000$ for a 360 and PS3, when that would buy a GREAT video card, procecssor, and mainboard. (as well as a hell of a monitor for the 3500+$ you need for an 1080p HDTV)

Nintendo's Wii will not only appeal to the 'nintendorks' but also to the 360 gamers, why? because they are quality games for a low price.

It is sony who should be worrying, because their PS3 looks WORSE than the 360. 200$+ for a controller? Sad.

I can own a PS3 or I could own a Wii and 360 for about the same price. See?
