"If there was ever a game that could take advantage of the Wii controller, this is it."
Exactly how is this the game that will make the wiimote truly shine? I can see maybe for balancing on beams or something, but I cant really see how this is a good match for the unique remote. Anyone have any suggestions?

Note that they say North America. Ign also says that Ubisoft announce PoP for Wii in France in March of 07, but nothing for NA. It's obviously inevitable, though. Here's hoping for a hell of a game because I really enjoy the PoP series.

Pinpoint accurate stabs. When you are about to do a stab the camera repositions itself behind the shoulder of the charecter(like RE4 but closer to the shoulder) and you get to choose where to stab him or choose to slit his throat. Thats one idea that came to my mind. I think this would work perfetcly since PoP had something like this in Two thrones remember instant kills. I think this would be a good add on so that way you can create your own instant kills.

i'm with you on the controls, it would be fun as hell if they get it right. but i can't imagine how they're going to do it without making the camera very different during combat and then i wonder how all the acrobatics will work too. im excited though, but still curious

mnugghuhx:

That's exactly the point. Prince of Persia very well could be the game to prove that the type of control utilized on the Wii can change the way we control our games. Most of what we've seen up to this point are gimmicks or games designed entirely around the fact that there is a motion sensitive controller.

If you take a mainstream action game like Prince of Persia and integrate Wii functionality heavily and well, it's proof that this could really be the way that we will control games from now on.

Just speculation on my part, but I agree with the statement for these reasons.

mnugghuhx my other comment was one way they could improve on the game. Another way is they could add a whip to the prince and he could use it to swing to places that are far away. They had this in Two thrones when you were the evil prince. But I never liked him. he wasn't a good fit in the game. He was to much of kill people and get into big fights but the prince is more of kill fast and stay hidden type. In the game you could flick the controller and the price will use the whip on a nearby beam and use it to get to other places. they could also use it for using arrows. They could add a bow to the game and you could snipe enemys with the bow and arrow. They could use it like how nintendo used the bow and arrow in Zelda Twilight Princess. But in PoP instead of pushing a button to pull back on the bow string you pull then Wiimote while holding down the A button and then let go of A button to shot the arrow. I think this would add to the experiance and the immersion of PoP to feel like your really part of the story. Those are a couple of ideas of how Ubisoft could inhance the experiance of PoP.

I really don't see how this would translate all that greatly to Wii as well, but I'd like for Ubisoft to prove me wrong...still, I probably wouldn't pick it up because I played all 3 PoP games, and they ended the trilogy, so this must be a port they're talking about with new controls. Right now, the PoP team is working on Assassin's Creed.

Erik Novak 9. says:

"this must be a port they're talking about with new controls."

Or a prequel. Can you really see Ubisoft porting a game that already exists on the GameCube to the Wii? I mean, it makes a little more sense with Far Cry, for example, because it only appeared beforehand as a PC and Xbox title; I just don't see that happening.

"Right now, the PoP team is working on Assassin's Creed."

Yes, but that doesn't necessarily mean that a PoP game in '07 is completely out of the question, does it? Heck, if Red Steel makes it to launch, it will have been in development for only a little over a year. Now, also assuming that said PoP game is an 'exclusive' in one way or another for the Wii (like Rayman: Raving Rabbids), I see no reason why Ubisoft couldn't release it within '07.

This news actually brings up a good question...would you play a game you've already beaten before if it had new Wii functionality? Especially someething as adventure based as the Prince of Persia trilogy has been?

I want to stress to everyone that this is probably a port/remake, as Ubisoft said they're done w/ the PoP series.

jeez, PoP could work with the Wii-mote the same as Mario works with the Wii-mote. Can we use a little creative thinking here?

I'll definitely be getting PoP on Wii. Wii is getting some pretty exciting game announcements lately, especially if this Rampage story is to be believed!

I'm happy that Ubisoft is throwing loads of support to the wii. I just wished all developers would follow.

Following Ubisofts announcements of how excited they are about the wii, I wouldn't be surprised for them to start a new trilogy on wii.

Why is Ubisoft porting all their last gen games to Wii?

Hasn't everyone that wanted to already played Prince of Persia and Far Cry?

I can answer that question easily enough J. Goodwin. My guess is that someone jury rigged a wii controller or similar device to test these games and probably found them to be vastly superior products with enhanced control schemes warranting a rerelease. Kind of like driving a lexus as opposed to a Hugo....

No, spacey, it's more like driving a Yugo with a detached steering wheel remote...

AND having to pay Lexus price for both the Yugo and the steering wheel.

Give me a break, this is a nearly 4 year old game they will release with minor upgrades and graphical downgrades for possibly full retail price. If they don't put some major work and unlockables in there or charge less than a Platinum/Greatest Hits price, then this will be a ripoff.

I'm not against them making a new PoP but this just reeks of a money grab to me.
