You're joking, right?

VG cats is the same old shit over and over. Although I've never heard of Lobcomics or whatever it is, I voted for it, because it was the only funny one.

This week's Digital Unrest was awesome. And at the time I'm posting this, DU is actually in second place behind PA. Sweet!

Staples Center? Don't you mean the L.A. Convention Center?

You do know that the L.A. Clippers, L.A. Lakers, and L.A. Kings all play in the Staples Center during May, the month that E3 used to be in... right?

Anyway, I was surprised to see a comic right out of LiveJournal make it up here. Naturally, it's the one I voted for. It was funny, too.

I liked the Console Wars comic though. Shaun of the Dead always gets my vote.

If you're surprised by the nipple in DA, you must not have read very many.

Anyone remember the one where's banging that girl from behind and he compares it to levelling up in Final Fantasy?

L_A_M_E!

God the comcis for the last couple of weeks have been pretty unfunny recently.

...and I swear all the NON-industry people (i.e the ones who don't belong there) need to quit whinning like little babies about not being able to attend the show.

@1

Actually you're right, but you have it backwards. If Hooked on Polygons won, it wold only show that there's a lot of HoP fanboys.

I don't know how many times it's been stated that you don't need to make big sweeping movements with the Wii-mote. You can make small flicks that will the same exact thing. If you get tired from moving your wrist then you need to stop playing video games and go to the hospital. Because something is seriously physically wrong with you.

And even though I shouldn't have to say this I know I do: I am not a Nintendo fanboy, I haven't owned a Nintendo system since the SNES and while I'll probably get a Wii, I'm also probably not going to be waiting in any line for one.

Wish you could edit! :)

I AM a Nintendo fan and I still voted for Hooked on Polygons. I liked a lot of different aspects of the comic besides saying how one could get tired using the remote. It was funny how Reggie just popped in out of nowhere and how he brought back ROB. Penny Arcade is the only strip I read regularly but I still feel like it's unfair how they win all the time because they have the biggest fanbase. I can see how someone might think that HoP wasn't the best comic, but Penny Arcade definitly wasn't. Joystiq, may I suggest taking Penny Arcade out of the Weekly Webcomic Wrapup? Just because they're almost always gonna win.

It's pretty obvious that the "Hooked on Polygons" person(s) who made that comic are extremely biased.

Just as others have said on here as well as Nintendo, you DO NOT need to wave your arms around to play the game. I played a couple games at E3 and the only time I had to big movements was when I was playing Wii Sports Baseball.

As for VGcats being crap for years? I dunno if it's been THAT long but they're couple of stips have just been lame.

Man, I don't like any of them. I voted My Extra Life, it's mildly amusing. VG cats is about 5% funny, but I never played that game or it might resonate more w/ me. PA is as lame as it's ever been.

Maybe I just have a different take on recent news events... (It's people like me that killed E3 - GATech paid for my entry to E3 twice. :) )

Why does everyone vote 99% of the time, even when the comic is unfunny, and more or less a diatribe or serious commentary on a gaming event? It' best web COMIC...not "Who is your favourite, and click that button". Some of the genuine talent here is never getting exposure because of the Penny Arcadians.

Hooked on Polygons was hilarious, regardless of whether anyone will actually get tired playing the Wii.

This strip is very well designed, and is consistently underrated in the polling. I agree that the backlash against HoP does not reflect well on this blog readership.

Hey, just wanted to give a shout out to the guys at Joystiq.com for putting my comic in that list. Totally wasn't expecting it, but I gotta give you thanks for having an open enough mind to include a comic featuring anthropomorphic characters. It really made my day.

Major respect to Joystiq.

@ GSI:

You've misinterpreted my message. I wasn't implying that Wii gameplay was like that, and that Hooked on Polygons should win because it was 'representing the truth'. No, I'm saying it should win because it's genuinely amusing, and if it doesn't win, it really does show that because it's making fun of the Wii, the voters are pro-Nintendo.

It's funny whether it's true or not, and that's what should be.

I swear... attacks at people based on your assumption alone and generalising people by calling them 'you people' must be bliss for 'you people.'

No F@NB0Y$ this week joystiq? oh wellz. maybe next week then.

I'm probably gonna have to go with my extra life. partly becuase its funny, and partly becuase im too lazy to read after reading hooked on polygons... so much reading... but i loved that close up of reggie. that alone had me deciding between the two.

I dont know why that penny arcade strip is up there either. it was decent, but the one from friday was just so much better. figured that'd be a shoe in this week.

now if youll excuse me, im gonna get my cinna on.

Well my bad then, my apologies. But when 99% of people say the Wii will fail b/c of remote or that "waving your hand around" will get tiresome and having not even tried the Wii...seeing people trying to justify their false claim is irritating.

And I'm even beating the "none of the above" xD

Great comics this week, I read someone saying thta he didn't play the game featured in VGCats and so he didn't find it funny. Well I didn't play that game and I found it funny.

It's the good thing of VGCats, most of the time you don't have to play the game to understand the joke.

I liked Hooked on Polygons, but PA was definately funnier... if not for its clever relation to current events in the industry, then for its elegant simplicity.

glad to see the cynical and bitter anti-nintendo strips. They really make me feel secure in not only my undeserved sense of pride, but my coplete and undying loyalty to my Sony overlords. So what if those jokes are as stale and recycled as a nickel whores neatherealms, they make me feel better about myself.
