With condolences to gamers abroad, that's Dead Rising's US release.

And they region locked the damned thing too. http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-00-3-xbox360_compatibility_guide-49-en.html

Has an explanation been given for the month-long delay?

The GBA is a great handheld system, while neither of the releases coming out this week are anything to get excited about, I still play more GBA games on my DS than I do DS games. Final Fight, Street Fighter Alpha 3, River City Ransom...there are so many great classic titles available for GBA, it's a handheld system everyone should own, and since the DS plays GBA games, why not keep making em'?

Our constitution protects our right to view hard-core gore and brutal violence. No doubt, this game will be sanitized for other countries. Hence, the delay.

I couldn't get into Dead Rising, I'm rent it and give the full version a shot. Although it could be that I can't tear myself away from Saints Row.

Yeah, with an installed user base of 114 million, why would ANYONE bother creating games for it, right? That's just crazy. [rolleyes]

I hoarded as many reward zone certificates as possible (most from the purchase of my 360) and I'm a gonna slap 'em down on the barrel head n' say, "Gimme that there wonderful Xbox zombie deal for nearly free." I laugh with abandon at the thought it.

And I couldn't get into Saints Row.

It's a blatant San Andreas clone, only with a much better interface and combat.

But San Andreas was boring to me. The entire playstyle has become stale, in my eyes.

And the ghettoness is absurd. But not absurd enough. The game is ridiculous, with terms like "homies" and lots of over-the-top violence, but not absurd enough. It's like it couldn't commit to being parody or being dead-serious. Too over-the-top to be serious, not funny enough to be parody. Like the things the random citizens say on the streets? Idiotic, but not funny.

I had a bit of fun playing the demo, no doubt, but overall felt the tone sucked, the setting sucked, I'm sick of being a poor, classless thug in a street gang, and I'm just tired overall of doing the same thing.

I have been watching zombie related material (Land of the Dead, 28 Days Later, Saun of the Dead, Simpsons Halloween Special III amoung others) for the past week, getting ready for Dead Rising. I cannot wait.

Let the ZOMBIEfest begin.....or is that Zombiepalooza?

I agree with mosquito control except for the fact that I could still have fun playing it if the FRAMERATE didn't suck. Let's hope the full version will iron things out. I will be buying Dead Rising tomorrow . I played the crap out of the demo this weekend and I still laugh everytime I smack a zombie with a thrown sledgehammer.

Hey, I didn't know how to get this word out, but Gamestop may have hinted at the Wii's release date today. They updated the release date of two launch games, Ubi Soft's Rayman and Midway's Happy Feet both have a release date of Nov. 14. Nov. 19/20 was one of the code dates from Nintendo's press release that could have been a launch date for the Wii, and companies tend to release launch games the week before a system's release. With this in mind, the Wii's launch date looks to be November 19, despite Nintendo wanting to get a head start from Sony.

Thryon:
All those movies and not Dawn of the Dead? You need to watch both versions!

Despite the demo's disclaimer, I think Capcom borrowed pretty heavily from that particular Romero gorefest. The 2004 remake is great, but this game screams the 1978 version.

Obviously Dead Rising is the bomb. Had lots of fun in the demo already and check out the Scan of the full map, it's not even a 5th of the full game (Wonderland plaza with indoor roller coaster looks great!).

Saints Row is "whatever", I agree it is a blatant clone of GTA but was prepared to give it a chance. With the tearing, the awful washed out lighting and the cliched "bad ass gangsta" stuff going on it's not for me. Maybe if the environments had been even half as interesting as Dead Rising it would be something special (and yes I understand they can't put that much detail into a much wider open world as in Saints Row).

anyway click my poster name for my dead rising review and see why its cool if you haven't played it/made your own mind up yet :)

Hmmm, I've been thinking about getting Dead Rising but I can't seem to justify 60 bucks for it. Plus Saint's Row is coming out later on and that also interests me. I'll probably end up waiting till both are in the bargain bin and get some other games like Splinter Cell.

"must..resist..Wii..launch..almost..here...."

Actually, those are my feelings exactly. I'm planning on picking up a Wii on launch day, but I keep getting distracted by the Xbox 360 and games like Dead Rising, Gears of War, and Saint's Row.

I try to remind myself that the Wii will be here soon, and that I should just hold out on purchasing an Xbox 360 until the version with the 65nm chip comes out, but it's so hard. Basically, I just keep getting the old "oooohh, shiiiny" feeling.

NO. Dead Rising, GoW, and Saint's Row will all be playable when I purchase a 360, say, in the first half of 2007. You can wait, come on... just think thoughts of Twilight Princess, Super Smash Bros., and Disaster: Day of Crisis. And don't forget that you'll be playing Super Tecmo Bowl and Contra online in no time... so... close.
