Majora's Mask Fierce Deity Link figurine

There are two kinds of gamers in this world: those who favor Ocarina of Time and those who prefer Majora's Mask. Sure, the latter is a much smaller group -- easily dwarfed by Ocarina fans waving its 40/40 score in Famitsu magazine ("the first game to do so," they helpfully remind you) -- but First 4 Figures sent word that Majora's Fierce Deity Link would be the first in their lineup of Legend of Zelda figurines, undoubtedly beating out the much anticipated Ocarina Ingo figurine. At 14.5" tall, and $130, this thing is collectors only, we're afraid. Wouldn't want you recreating the epic showdown with Majora and busting your sword, y'know?

I prefer Majora's Mask. I think the whole concept and way everything plays out over the 3 days is amazing. I hope they make another using the same style. Going back in time and seeing everything happen again but being able to do more that time around is soooo cool. I was a little annoyed however that they used most of the character models from OoT.

Oops forgot to comment about the figurine. It's awesome!!!
Vid E @ Aug 7th 2006 9:11AM
I like both of them, is there something wrong with me????
Powerlord @ Aug 7th 2006 9:14AM
I would hate another game in the Majora's Mask style. I hated the 3-days thing, as it makes you restart the 3-day period if you make the slightest mistake during certain events, such as Romani Ranch.
Kn1ves @ Aug 7th 2006 9:14AM
do i smell another rumor?
super smash bros brawl?
the seed has been planted.

Majora's Mask was pretty cool, and I do dig when they get a bit experimental with the Zelda storyline (my favorite Zelda game is Link's Awakening). It wasn't as cool as Ocarina of Time (which still blows me away), but then again, very little is.
But anyone who ever played Majora's Mask and went through the trouble of actually getting the Fierce Diety Mask (and you had to work for it) knows that Fierce Diety Link was perhaps the coolest incarnation of Link ever. So cool that I'm hoping that Twilight Princess has at least a cameo. So cool that if Fierce Diety Link was in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, I don't think I'd use anyone else.
In other words - holy sweet merciful monkeys, do I need that statue.

I am a TOTAL LoZ:MM dork... and the idea of having that figurine excites me in ways that only porn should. Oh, why is SO MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE than their other figures? (Great to see other MM lovers though!)
Chris X @ Aug 7th 2006 9:56AM
I didn't really like Majora's Mask (3-Day thing pissed me off, even with the ocarina song that could knock you back a day) but this figurine is so badass, I'll probably have to buy it anyway. *Prays for OoT figurines*
striderhayasa @ Aug 7th 2006 10:05AM
Hmmm, I just started playing Ocarina of Time on the Cube again and hope to get Majora's Mask soon. I liked them both. I lean a bit more towards Ocarina though. Zelda is definately one of the greatest series ever made.
The figurine is sweet though. I wouldn't buy it. I'd probably go out and buy some Super Sculpty instead and make my own.
Baba @ Aug 7th 2006 10:30AM
I am currently playing Majora's Mask for the first time. Did anybody play the game without using a guide or walkthrough? When I started the game, didn't even learn the Song of Time before watching the moon crash into the city. I quickly went to GameFAQs and have been following a walkthrough. I'm enjoying the game, but it feels like I'm cheating. It just seems to be a very frustrating game if you want to explore on your own and move at your own pace due to the time limit. I didn't enjoy doing the same things over and over again so I went the cheaters way. I just wanted to "get on with it" and see how the story unfolds.
Agent MOO @ Aug 7th 2006 10:43AM
And there's the third group, those who think the N64 zeldas were overrated and prefer Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES).
Jay @ Aug 7th 2006 10:51AM
£130 is £60. £5 more than some 360 games. I'd buy it. $130 isn't that much.
electro^plankton @ Aug 7th 2006 11:20AM
This is totally not Kiddy
KerB @ Aug 7th 2006 11:27AM
And then there's me, who thinks Wind Waker and Ocarina are both tied for the best, with Majora not far behind.
And omg yes, Fierce Diety link = dreamboat!!
Baboon @ Aug 7th 2006 11:42AM
Personally, I like the very dark feel of MM. I like the fact that, throughout the game, you know that you may save that monkey on THIS 3 day cycle, but on all others you know he is being eaten by those damn plants (Or the many other tragic events you fix: particularly the Romani Ranch ones). And of course, you know that they are all destroyed by the moon anyway. That feeling of overarching despair is just such a unique atmosphere. Of course, I love OoT too. But honestly, who doesn’t?
Maybe Joystiq should see if they can acquire a set and maybe give it away in a contest…
x4str0m3ch @ Aug 7th 2006 11:47AM
I loved Majora's, alot of people hate the 3-day system, but it just added to the depth in the storyline for me.
I would buy this, if it werent so expensive. *sob*
Rene @ Aug 7th 2006 12:31PM
I have got to play MM again, holy sweet naked sun bathing goddess that looks sweet.
Ketsuke @ Aug 7th 2006 12:34PM
I'd hit it...
Ketsuke @ Aug 7th 2006 12:36PM
I mean he is freakin' hot in this incarnation, the best link by far.
William @ Aug 7th 2006 12:46PM
Am I the only one that thinks this figurine is a bit... late? Majora's Mask came out a long time ago.
Crazylink @ Aug 7th 2006 12:54PM
Crap, I've recently been obsessed with Fierce Deity and now I want this. I'm also hoping that he'll return in TP.
BPM? @ Aug 7th 2006 1:37PM
Hm, looks like they fixed up the sculpt a bit. The earlier prototype had Fierce Deity Link with a chubby, kid-like face (Young Link's head on Fierce Deity Link's body? Maybe).
Judd @ Aug 7th 2006 2:13PM
Majora's Mask is like the Jackie Brown of videogames. Sure by itself it's not bad at all, but when Pulp Fiction is the best film ever made there's no way anything after it could live up to it's expectations.
cringer8 @ Aug 7th 2006 2:18PM
My Zelda rankings (best to worst [console versions only]):
Wind Waker
Majora's Mask
Link to the Past
Legend of Zelda
Ocarina of Time
Four Swords
Adventures of Link
This list is based heavily on replay value.
I loved "Ocarina of Time" when I first played it, but I found it to be one of the easiest Zelda games ever. So, any time I try to replay it, I get bored quickly.
Just my personal experience.
GSI @ Aug 7th 2006 3:22PM
Anyone know if the Metroid figures from First4figures are out yet? I'm more interested in those.
Sang.heili/zero @ Aug 7th 2006 4:03PM
My favorite LoZ game would have to be a tie between Ocarina and Wind Waker.
Sang.heili/zero @ Aug 7th 2006 4:05PM
o yea, i forgot to say something about the statue also... ITS FRIKKIN' AMAZING!!! and imi gonna buy one the second i can.
Joe @ Aug 7th 2006 5:25PM
It's all about Majora's Mask 'cause of Goron Link who can roll around at the speed of sound. Having places to go. Needing to follow its rainbow.
makesevevenupyours @ Aug 7th 2006 5:30PM
wind waker?
WIND WAKER!!??
WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!??
Baboon @ Aug 8th 2006 12:16AM
Wind Waker IS a great game, believe it or not. I love it if only for how Gannon is portrayed in the game.
Adv2k1 @ Aug 8th 2006 1:27AM
25. how can you say WW is the best and that 00T is to easy. WW was extremely easy compared to 00T. The only time I died in WW was when I attacked a pig out of curiousity. None of the boss's killed me and it just felt like it was to easy overall. The sailing destroyed WW for me as I will never play that game again because its just to boring to sail, and so boring to collect shards of triforce.
Anyway I love MM more than either. The 3day thing made it seem more like a real life world and I got more emotionally attached to the world. THat figurine looks fantastic but at $130 thats way over my budget for something that will just collect dust. I need money for Wii and Twilight Princess so this while cool is wasteful for me
cringer8 @ Aug 8th 2006 1:03PM
Well, Adv2k1;
I do not base the difficulty of a Zelda game on how many times I die. In any Zelda game, you will only die if you're in the early stages of exploration. Once you've built up enough hearts and have a couple of bottles with which to hold fairies, you shouldn't die at all.
Wind Waker was waaaayyy deeper than Ocarina of Time (as far as game play) and it was a lot less linear. I also liked the fact that you weren't Link for a change. An entirely new hero was refreshing.
Don't get me wrong, I love every Zelda game almost equally. But there are certain aspects of each title that increase replayability. For me, that's pretty important, since I initially beat each Zelda game in about a month.
Tom @ Aug 8th 2006 5:20PM
Zelda Minish Cap is the best in my view.
Alex @ Sep 30th 2006 1:21AM
Does anyone know how to find out how many of the figures are left? I really, REALLy want to get one, but I'll probably be saving up for a while -.-
