I think they all would say "I should be in the high 80's or low 90's" in this or that. Would you expect anything else?

That's pretty funny. No kidding they think they should be rated higher. I'd love to see the player who looked at his rating and said, "Hmm, I don't think I'm that good really."

Yeah, but they go to ECU, remember? Someone at ECU that is considered fast isn't the same as someone at Miami that is considered fast.

If you don't think your rating is fair then you should have went to a bigger school with a better football program.

Could've been worse. They could've said "That guy is totally a 100!"

This is nothing new, Developer's for EA have felt shortchanged for years.

EA shortchanges everyone.

If no players are going to be ranked 100 then wahat is the point in having that rating?
Some players should be ranked 100 otherwise there is no point in going up that far on the scale.

EA should just hire Fairdale Kings or someone like that to do the rosters for them. They are off every year in both ratings and rosters and consumers have to jump through hoops to get rosters that are close to correct.

ECU - East Carolina University.
they are a mid-tier team in a mid-tier conference. Doesn't matter what they are on the team, they are being compared to all 117 NCAA division I teams. If they bitch about their ratings, they should be playing for a better team.

Jackasses! Go look what you are rated compared to those kids on Florida, Florida State, Miami, Virginia Tech, LSU, Georgia, Ohio State and all the great football programs out there.

Not interrupting your regularly scheduled EA-bashing:

Well, at least they update the rosters, so if someone really did get rated poorly and becomes a standout athlete, you can download roster updates to reflect the changes.

LOL!

I went to ECU. They suck really hard. Get this, they were raising tuition for lack of money the same year they fired the football coach, bought out the rest of his 3 year contract(2 years @ 250K/yr I heard) and hired a new guy for three times as much. It didn't help. They got mildly famous for beating NC State in the... Peach Bowl? Orange Bowl? I don't remember. It was back in like 1994 or something.

My question is why is Joystiq even bothering with articles from the Rocky Mount newspaper? It's not like the town is a hotbed of electronic entertainment. It must be a painfully slow news day...

Sorry to burst your bubble, T-Bag, but NFL Quarterbacks are usually extremely intelligent. I doubt you'd last a day in one's shoes. Perhaps you should learn more of which you speak before you make yourself look like an uninformed ass.

The QB for UW (#4 Stanback) is waaay too good in NCAA07. Been watching him for the last 2 seasons and he absolutely sucks. In the game he's super friggin fast and a great QB. Total BS

thats funny... were sitting her laughing at some of the best athletes in the country while we sit at a desk knowing that every single person on this post would have a rating of 6... for everything...

And I do not what to see a post by some "Uncle Rico" saying that he could have made it and back in '82 you would have won the game if coach put you in... cause no it would not have happened...

This isn't about EA being unfair to ECU, no, this is about ECU getting some publicity for its football program. This is about the only way they can, b/c otherwise you would never hear about them. Am I right or not?

@ Todd....

Whether you go to ECU or Miami....40 is the 40. If I run a 4.5 at ECU I will run a 4.5 at Miami. You can argue the competition of a school or the tier of a school ..but an athlete is an athlete no matter where he goes.

I had a friend who played College football for Duke, he was a kicker for the team. They had him rated at a max field goal range of 45yds and during the season he kicked consecutive 51 and 52 yd field goals... It's just the way it is... it's not always "accurate".

because ECU is known across the country as a football school. I hear they win national championships all the time in their dreams. The games gotta have some sort of sense of scale. Just because your the fastest guy who plays for ECU doesn't mean your a 97 in the game. If you were really THAT fast, don't you think you'd be playing football for someone like Ohio State, or Notre Dame, or some other big name football school. This makes me laugh.

Hey, I went to ECU. It's all alright school.
There's this pizza place called Michaelangelo's down there, though, with the seriously greatest pizza in the world at the corner of Evans and Greenville Blvd. I used to work there as a driver.

To you people saying, "If you were really that fast, you would be playing for a bigger school." Football isn't all about speed. If it were, it would be called track. Mid-level to small schools make their living bringing in kids who are great athletes but have little polish as it pertains to being a football player. You can be fast as hell, but if you can't catch the ball, why would Miami or whoever waste their time with you?

Oh my God. I never thought I would pull up Joystiq and see an article about the ECU Pirates, and from the Rocky Mount Telegram no less. That is hilarious! I grew up in Eastern North Carolina where the Pirates are popular, although I've never been a fan. I went to UNC-Chapel Hill (GO HEELS!), but I have a lot of friends that went to ECU. Their football team is nothing to write home about. There are high school teams better than ECU. They should consider themselves lucky that EA put them in a video game at all.

ECU is a great party school, however. Some of my craziest nights in college were spent hanging out in G-Vegas with my friends at ECU. Samfish is right: Michaelangelo's Pizza is awesome. It's great to see an article on Joystiq that hits so close to home. It kind of makes me homesick.
