Readers pick best webcomic (July 30 - August 5, 2006)

If a Reggie knocked on your door, would you let him in? Hooked on Polygon's "Mechanimal Animal" took the top spot as favorite gaming webcomic this week. A lot of comments loathed this strip for portraying the Wiimote in a negative light -- having to swing the controller wildly to move the characters. To those people we say relax -- it's just a comic!Second place goes to Penny Arcade (they're not first!? It's a conspiracy!) and third to Extra Life. I think that comic will turn out to be true. and that a lot of people will have to realize that. well except for reggie showing up at your door with a BOT.

I really liked the winner this week so good picking everyone.
Also for next week, that Penguin Comic that did that Master Chief is a furry joke (best single comic I've ever seen on the round up) made another weird science videogame joke again.

That winning comic is retarded. Not only does it look awful (and with so many nice looking comics out there this is unacceptable), but the point it is making is about 6 months old.
And it's terribly written.

Yeah, I realize no 's' myself. I made that mistake when conducting the poll. The poll results, then, reflect my earlier mistake. It'll be fixed next week.

I didn't object to the way that HoP presented the Wii-mote. I objected to the fact that the comic was too bloody long to be remotely funny. I'm sure it got a lot of anti-Nintendo vote; I can't see how anyone else would enjoy it. The joke has been done a million times before and a million times better.

The winning comic got my vote purely for how hard that first frame with Reggie made me laugh. Nothing else made me laugh out loud like that.
I say the picture for this article should be changed to that frame of the comic.

Hooked on Polygon's was ok, i think PA was ok ish, but Extra Life's was easly the best. They should have won..
Its been a while since TAC got a mention on here, ah well... well keep trying!

Uh yeah... error. That comic started strong, but I didn't even finish it. It sucked too hard.

I think it won cause all the Nintendo people voted for it. Nintendo people of course can't read, but seeing the pretty pictures with all the Nintendo gear and their resident Golden Calf, reggie, they plopped down their votes.
It was a really good comic though.

i think last week just wasnt a good week for gaming comics. they were all leaning toward the wrong side of the "meh" scale, myself included.
one problem i find with last weeks is the wrong penny arcade was chosen. That joke has been done and over done so many times. It was good but the one PA did on saints row was just so much better.
Hopefully this week will be better. I got two comics up I think are good but I'll let you be the judge of that:

Hey scott thanks very much! Yeah before I used to cut copy paste but since I "procured" a copy of illustrator I spend about 3 hours on every strip now, its nice to be noticed as well thanks so much! I didn't really agree with the winner this week. White Rose is right, the joke has been done before and better. Not to mention the fact that it drug on to long.
I was really hoping ExtraLife would win. Ah, well. Congrats to the winner anyways. Good job.
