The NPD Group has released the top 10 selling PC games for the week of July 23 - July 29, 2006. Top publishers (including expansions) include EA with (3) titles, 2K Games with (2), and THQ with (2). I would have thought after
addiction accusations,
WoW would have still been on top.
- Cars - THQ
- Civilization IV: Warlord - 2K Games
- World Of Warcraft - Blizzard
- The Sims 2 - Electronic Arts
- Nancy Drew - Her Interactive
- Sims 2 Family Fun Stuff - Electronic Arts
- Sims 2 Open For Business - Electronic Arts
- Civilization IV - 2K Games
- Guild Wars Factions - NCsoft
- Titan Quest - THQ

i cant believe that WoW is still selling damn well
Ferior @ Aug 9th 2006 3:45PM
Wow has been in the top ten since release, too. It doesn't have to be the top-selling game to still keep people addicted.

I'm surprised Civ 4 is doing so well. Way to go Side Meier :)

If Cars is selling more than the top original PC game, then that means sales must be VERY slow on the PC front.
This lineup with a movie-tie in leading is like something from the GameCube or GBA charts...

At letskilldave.com they update the top 10 PC games weekly like the Major does on his site.
But damn, its not like people need to buy the game more then once and WoW is still on top. Then again my cousin and his friend just got WoW last month and now he wants me to get it.
Way to go Civ IV though, I played it a ton when I first got it but I haven't played it in months. Its still a damn good game though.

Yes, but does WoW include RADIATOR SPRINGS ADVENTURES???
mkm1998 @ Aug 9th 2006 4:04PM
Radiator Springs Adventures is not the same as the Cars game that is ported on every system. I think you guys might have the wrong cover picture posted, as I doubt the kids learning game is the number 1 title

This just proves that FPS games aren't the be-all and end-all of gaming.

Wohoo 3 Sims titles in the list!... well one title and two expansions, Well done Will Wright!

Wow, pc games are really in the gutter these days. Xbox360 for under the price of a premium graphics card is a pretty good deal.
Rich @ Aug 9th 2006 4:23PM
Ohh yea?? than why has the PS2 been outselling the 360 since its release?? (except for the month of April.. I already know that)
Loque @ Aug 9th 2006 4:46PM
Just remember guys, We (as in PC gamers) get mods. You guys do not. and besides, summer is slow for PCs just as it is for consoles.

Erm... just how *interactive* is that interactive Nancy Drew game?
Purely disinterested speculation, I assure you...

so sad... PC deserves good games too. /prays for dead rising

The PC market also accounts for a lot of 'safe' games that parents buy for their younger kids to play on the computer. Thank goodness this isn't the definitive list of top renowned titles in PC gaming, or we'd have a problem. There are plenty of better games out there enjoyed by hardcore PC gamers - F.E.A.R, Battlefield 2, Prey is pretty good... on the less violent front, games like Black & White, if you want something with high-end graphics. And tons of others that aren't at the forefront at my brain right now. This list by no means looks at the 'best of' or the 'high end', and I hope console gamers don't look at this and laugh at our choices as gamers, or they would be sorely misinformed.
Meanwhile, wtg Civ :)

WoW did drop to number 3, but i do beleive that i read that there was a span where WoW was number one for 6 straight weeks i beleive.
jadenguy @ Aug 10th 2006 1:16AM
So games that sell well aren't hardcore, only games you approve of? mor leik way to go nancy drew!
