Synergy? Next-generation of gaming? Anyone who has worked in a large technical corporate enviroment knows these big database software programs are nothing but a hassle. I'm sure there's going to be a bunch of forms to fill out to access the most mundane information. These things don't help creative people, they are a burden. It's a lot easier to tap your buddy on the shoulder and ask him where a certain file is. Does Oracle pay for ad space on this site? This article sounds like the sales pitch Lucasfilm probably got before they bought the software.

I think you're missing the point George. This allows the sharing of assets between the guy working on the next Indiana Jones game and the guy working on a special effects shot at ILM. The game's design could potentially directly incorporate the 3D model from the film by simply grabbing it off the central database. I doubt ILM and Lucasarts employees are typically close enough to allow taps on the shoulder.
