Luxury Nintendo shirts at luxury prices
Looking for the highest quality Nintendo t-shirt? Check out the King of Games, but be warned: it'll cost you an arm and a leg for your gaming lifestyle. King of Games makes some of the best, officially-licensed Nintendo fashion, and they just released a 20th Anniversary Legend of Zelda tee. The shirt, as analyzed by 4 color rebellion, features two crossed Master swords surrounded by four of Link's shields from different eras of Legend of Zelda -- NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, and GameCube. The shirt is available in grey and white. The price of looking this good? 4,800 yen, or approximately $42 in the U.S. (plus shipping and handling).

42 goddamn Rupees! Are they effin' crazy?
Tesla @ Aug 9th 2006 6:39PM
And I thought the cost of games was getting more expensive.

I have a huge collection of videogame shirts (now over 70 I believe) and maybe some time down the road I'll add a King of Games Nintendo shirt to my wardrobe. This Zelda one is pretty cool; I wouldn't mind wearing one...not at all.

Higher prices weed out the riff-raff... Maybe Sony is going for this with the PS3?
harusame @ Aug 9th 2006 7:08PM
Who needs a PS3? Get Wii and a couple of shirts from KoG instead.
Well, maybe not but, damn, I want me one of those!

Hell, I'd buy one...

Wow. If it didn't cost one week of groceries, I'd be on it like green on Link.

Is $42 that much more expensive than an Abercrombie t-shirt or whatever else high school kids are wearing these days? I just went to a concert a couple weeks ago and paid $35 for a souvenir t-shirt. Dumb? Yeah, maybe. But I wouldn't go so far as to say $42 for a tee qualifies as "luxury prices."

That layout would make for pretty cool tattoo. Maybe I'll buy the shirt, just so I can get the tat.

"Is $42 that much more expensive than an Abercrombie t-shirt or whatever else high school kids are wearing these days?"
If by "that much," you mean about $12-$22, then yes. Abercrombie is expensive, but I haven't seen one-color ink on a cotton t-shirt go higher than $30, and most high school kids don't shop at Abercrombie exclusively.

Uh, be aware that these are japanese sized tshirts.
The japanese run about 2 sizes smaller than us, so plan on that XL you're ordering to wear like a snug medium on your average american.
shivr @ Aug 10th 2006 1:37AM
well... it's expensive, but the design is a lot nicer than all those "ironic" nintendo shirts you might find at Hot Topic these days. Classy, I wouldn't be embarissed to wear it, but there's no way a shirt is worth that much to me :3
Razz @ Eurogamer @ Aug 10th 2006 7:36AM
$42? That's about £22 right?
That's not that expensive really. I usually pay around £20 for VG T-Shirts anyway. I told my mate in Tokyo to pick me one up! Can't wait!
Thanks Joystiq! Made my day. :)

42 duckets are you freakn insane?!?!? I might have to draw me a green link on a 3 pack package of hanes
Eternal @ Aug 10th 2006 3:18PM
Well if you want High Quality you have to pay the rupees, if not then keep on window shopping.... i certainly dont mind paying nearly $50 for "Official" Nintendo Merch.
JSK @ Aug 10th 2006 4:44PM
$42 for high quality designer tee is about average price. There are plenty of limited edition tees and/or tees with designs by hot graphic artists that average at least $30.
If you're complaining about the high price, you're not the target market.
