LucasArts has announced they will be partnering with MechAssault developer Day 1 Studios to produce an original IP for next gen consoles. Details won't be revealed until a later date, but Next Generation speculates the collaboration will yield an online action title befitting of Day 1's rock 'em, sock 'em robot roots. The Xbox developer is also handling the 360 port of PC shooter F.E.A.R, due in November.

That should be a great matchup! I loved both MechAssaults and LucasArts (for the most part) has always produced some pretty top notch games.
We'll have to see what comes out of this!

For example, when Pikmin was first released on the Gamecube, it was a new IP. When a franchise starts off with a first game, or pretty much any totally new game is release, it is refered to as a new IP. Miyamoto has a new IP in store for the Wii, meaning he has come up with a new game, like he did for pikmin on the gamecube (lovely game).

God.....doesn't it seem sad when we get excited that someone announces there is going to be new IP? Its like everyone is so used to endless franchises or crappy refreshes that when something new comes along we all wig out a little. What does say about the ingenuity of these firms today?
Or maybe they have creativity but are relying on tried and true methods to make a quick money grab....either way its retarded.

Oh how I would love this game to be patched so you could be driving in a AT-AT.

I'm glad to hear this. Bring on the new franchises with the new generation of game consoles, I say. It's time for a current and never before seen set of intellectual properties from ALL developers possible. They just have to push themselves to be creative. Let's focus on fresh experiences instead of just dollar signs, people. :) Risk = reward...
