"Master Chief says Halo to new armor"

That was the best one by far.

This actually sounds like good news. They are only making changes based on necessity.

Hopefully the Halo movie doesn't turn out like Resident Evil, and I think Halo 3 the game would be ruined for me by default if the movie turns out like RE: Apocalypse.

Master Chief was trained from the age of about 6 to become a military commander. He was part of the Spartan II project. He was enhanced with certain neural implants and protein injections. His bone mass and muscle mass is about 5 times that of a normal human. This allows him to use his Mjolnir armor. Normal humans die trying to use the armor because it enhances strength by 2 and reflexes by 5. Their arms shatter and they start to convulse and these actions are exaggerated by the armor and they die.

And so the failure that is this film begins.

Give Hollywood a sure blockbuster and they will rape it in ways that you could never have imagined.

#to 7 LMV:

Bats are mammals. Mammals have mammary glands.

Anyway, it just sounds like the armour will be less armour-plate-ish, and more flexible in general. (one example I can think of is altering the helmet and neck area to give full head movement) I'm wondering if there'll be a patch update to edit the current Halo suits into the new form though.

im assuming thats a joke...

cuz if you honestly think the movie will suck due to "slight changes" as he said then you are a fucking dumbshit. im sorry, i try not to be rude, but honestly man...thats is flat out stupid.

i mean, this guy seems to really care about the games, and is a fan himself, i dont think he wants to do anything drastic anymore than the fans do.

im really feeling confident in this guy now...

I'm glad they're changing it, Master Chief looks too generic anyway.

Thanks Frank, for likely writing that while DRESSED as Master Chief.

Halo. Hmmm. Not really a game I like playing too much. What interests me in this whole thing is the director and his production values; he could change _my opinion_ of Halo2 as being a 'generic concept' and give life and depth to this for me. If changing the look is what Peter Jackson and Neill Blomkamp need to lift away from the 'Doom: The Movie' vibe, then more power to them. This could be greatness.

.::: Aren't we getting a little bit ahead of ourselves here? If anything, the way I read that was that Master Chief would be allowed more actions than in the game. Like he said "the game design right now does not allow for full motion freedom".

Now unless you take "parts" like something physical, I don't see any clear indication to actually modify his Mjolnir. For all we know it might mean Master Chief will be finally able to climb, or grab ledges while plummeting to his death. In other words allowing Master Chief to act in additional ways to the ones experienced in the games.

It could be the armor, but do you think for a moment Bungie/Microsoft would allow it to be changed beyond recognition? It has taken them ages to appoint a director alone.

@10

Aren't you over reacting just a tad? He isn't "reinventing" MC to be mainstream, he's talking about minor adjustments that MUST be made from a technical standpoint. Douche chill.

This film needs to be in CG. Problem solved, now Master Chief moves. Money saved (special effects anyone? oh right, we can just animate the.). Film saved.

When they do this, I want to see my name in the credits. :D

But seriously, I thing CG animation could really work for this film. They're already going to use a ton (hopefully) for the covenant forces.

to #22 Hunting_Phoenix:

I'm guessing you've never done special effects before, because CG is one of the main money-drainers in movies (the other being actor payment). CG animation will be used of cause, but it's much cheaper to use CG only where necessary. I'm going to assume that even if the covenant is done in CG, that they'll still use people to do motion-capture (same with Master Chief, even in areas where CG replacement is a must) simply because it's the most effective method of making sure the movements are believable.

Anyway, the point was that the armour in it's current state does not fit in as a type a supersoldier would wear, simply because some body actions would be limited. (gomputer games could get away with a little polygon-clipping, but for a top-quality motion picture it's out of line.)

I dunno why they can't just use this:

http://www.xbox365.com/news/news.cgi/article/EpZuEEkypkjZtmGqZd2602

It seems like Nightmare Armor already has some pretty sweet looking Master Chief suits that are practicle and usable. They also look exactly like MC in Halo...
