Eidos and Ford making promotional racing game for PS2, Xbox
Eidos Interactive and Ford have partnered up to develop a promotional video game dubbed Ford Bold Moves Street Racing. The game will be released this fall in North America based on the car manufacturer's recent "Bold Moves" advertising campaign. Features include 18 licensed Ford vehicles, "Maximum Team Control" that allows players to switch on-the-fly between a team of three vehicles, and what the press release calls a "progressive damage system" that amazingly reduces your car's ability to drive and aesthetic beauty with every collision (gasps in utter amazement). This isn't the first use of blatant adver-promotional gaming. Ford has developed poopsky racing games in years past, and Volvo released a similar game free of charge last fall to prospective car buyers. Though the game is expected for retail, I'll overturn a table at Joystiq headquarters if I have to pay for what should be a free, crappy promotional dealership game.

"Maximum Team Control" sure sounds like a ripoff if the classic Real-time Weapon Changing

It should be noted that Volvo is owned by Ford. Probably similar strategists involved...

ford racing 2 was actually a pretty enjoyable game. not the best in the genre by any means, but it was cheap and fun while it lasted.

I'd trust a Ford video game about as much as I'd trust a Ford vehicle (not much).
Now, if Toyota was making a video game, I could see potential in that.

Oh, yeah, I'm literally quivering in anticipation of Avalon Action Racing or the pulsepounding Prius vs. Camry.

Previous Ford racing games were not that exciting. Ford is really into the interactive media scene. Fordd’s latest campaign also includes an interactive TV advertising in collaboration with Turner Media Group consisting of several 30-second TV spots for Ford's 2007 Mustang, Fusion, Five Hundred, Freestyle and Focus vehicles.
