Can someone tell me why everyone hates Darryl? What does he specifically troll to that makes the rest of the readers hate him?

And though the numbers make it look shitty, I still give credit to the PSP. Competition is always good in a market, and Nintendo wouldn't care about the kinds of games it made if they had a monopoly.

Looks like Darryl is too chicken to admit that the PSP got it's ass BEAT!

@ Eagle:

The PSP may not have "terrible" games but the games for it aren't anything to brag about...especially when most of them are just PS2 ports or slightly modified ports.

As for Lumines being better then any DS game? All I got to say is:

How is that Sony Kool-aid your drinking?

I currently own (though not for long) a PSP and a DS and I've played Tetris AND Meteos waaaaaaaaay more then Lumines, and I happen to like Lumines...a lot.

As for the PS2 and Cube sales, that has NOTHING to with the DS and PSP now does it? No I didn't think so.

B/c he CONSTANTLY bashes anything that isn't Sony and has never been able to have a normal debate about something without sounding like a total fanboy.

Well, the numbers make sense as far as the portables. I bought a PSP in Japan, with Lumines, Metal Gear Acid, Dark Stalkers and Ridge Racer. Played for about a month. Then sent it to my brother on the US. Then bought a DS. Did not even open it for about two weeks (no games worth buying) returned to the Store. Forward to the US. Just bought a Lite (with Brain age, Animal Cr(ack)ossing, and New SMB, and will not buy a PSP (not very good games, yes even with the new MGS game) unless it is for homebrew. DS games are just more fun.
--By the by, only own a PS2, NDS lite and a GBA No other consoles.

@ GSI

I second that. I just bought a PSP and picked up Tekken, Lumines, and Wipeout. I just played Lumines for an hour straight last night just to give it a fair chance. I then popped in Meteos for the DS and Meteos proved to be the better game IMO. Played that for far longer. Lumines is not bad but Meteos is just better.

Tekken is awesome though. Best version Namco has ever made. Now if Sega can give me a VF4 on PSP, I can take Tekken back to the store.
Now that I've been playing PSP and DS, I can say that I'm glad I wasn't an early adopter. You guys just got screwed. Without Tekken (the main motivator to buy the PSP) I would have never bought it. Even the future outlook for PSP isn't exactly star studded. MGS is all well and good, but I've never been a fan of the series, I'll pass. Ds wasn't all hearts and flowers in the first six months either but it's been a great year for the Big N and christmas is going to be sick with the amount of great titles coming out.

There isn't anything coming in the near future for the PSP that I would really want to play. But I'm going to give Armored Core a shot (always been a fan of the series), maybe the Sega Compilation, I might try out Syphon Filter if I can get it used. Medal of Honor is going to suck hard because of the analog nub. It's the absolute worst for FPS.
EA....thanks for nothing.

I haven't played Tekken on the PSP (which is unfortuante b/c I am a HUGE fan of the series) but based on all the reviews...I'm sure it's awesome. It could have been bad-ass if they had put in REAL internet multiplayer and not the usual ad-hoc support which is basically useless.

"I wonder what Ballmer is going to do if the PS2 is still outselling the 360 once the PS3 comes out... And before you mention the price difference, if low price = selling the most units, the GameCube would be outselling everything."

Do you honestly believe the PS3 will be selling at the same rate of the PS2 with that price?!? By this time next year the 360 will be in its prime selling very well. Hopefully the PS3 will have a game that makes the console anywhere close to buying it for. Then in your next post you throw out numbers as though you work for each company and know the exact cost to make. You are a fanboy...the first step is to admit it.

Direct quote from darryl:

"It's pretty impressive to see how much damage the (more expensive) PSP has inflicted on Nintendo's portable stranglehold. The PSP is outselling the PS2, amazing.

I don't care how much FUD you try to dig-up... Sales don't lie and can't be twisted by your hate for Sony."

You're right, sales don't lie, only you.

Why don't the people who compile these numbers post sales figures for the software sales chart? The list is next to useless without numbers.

Considering the way the 360 has dominated the software charts recently, maybe all those PS2s *are* replacements for broken units: people are buying new PS2s to play their old games on, and they don't need new PS2 games.

Or maybe the PS2 owners are buying a wide variety of games in smaller quantites, so the sales don't show up in the top 10 chart. Can't say without sales figures.

Spare me any anecdotal retorts. TIA.

@Cage

I bought an xbox instead of a PS2 and a DS instead of a PSP. I am going to buy a PS3 instead of a 360. How that makes me a fanboy is beyond me... I guess I'm a Ninticrosonysoft fanboy... You don't have to work for Microsoft to know they are losing money on each 360 sold right now. Sony makes mostly profit on PS2 sales at this point. Again, you don't have to work for them to know these facts. So if you look at which company is maxing out their PROFITABILITY, then Microsoft is doing the worst of the three right now. As to whether the PS3 will outsell the PS2 when it comes out... well, it actually COULD, but only time will tell. All I'm saying is that for now, the PS2 is more attractive to buyers than the 360 is and if it remains so even AFTER Sony launches the PS3 (which will obviously sell as many as they can make for the rest of this year) then Ballmer's arpits are REALLY going to start getting sweat-stained.

But if it makes it easier for you to slap the "fanboy" label around than deal with reality, don't let me stop you from huddling in the corner and turning the light on and off while you mumble to yourself.

@40

The upcoming line-up for the PSP is amazing, in my humble opinion...

Killzone Liberation
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII
Dead Head Fred
Gran Turismo Mobile
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops
Every Extend Extra
Loco Roco
Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters
Silent Hill Origins
SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 2
Justice League Heroes
Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins

Add to that the ability to play most PS1 games on the PSP.

That's a lot of fun you won't find on the DS.

But, to each their own.

My DS Lite has become a New Super Mario Bros. machine. I play it once or twice a month.

I'd like to second that statement...you aren't as bad as Darryl (which is STILL too chicken to comment the PSP getting beat 2-to-1) but it's obvious you love Sony and loathe Nintendo.

--> "Add to that the ability to play most PS1 games on the PSP."

That is something that NOBODY knoews about and basically nothing was shown at E3 either.

You guys should come to the ghetto in the south bronx. Were I live in my Niegborhood at my local gamestop the PSP UMD movie selection outsells the entire ds game selection thats freaking unbelievable, I;m saying to myself i love my ds and I think I look cool but in my neigborhood im not cool because I dont own a psp. DS gets no love were i live, if your seen with a ds its either your kiddy or gay. Ive seen more children holding a psp then a DS were i live. You see lots of hip hop concirous gamers tagging up there psps with 3rd party designs and cases. I know the psp is a huge cultural phenomon in nyc just like how the IPOD was a couple of year back, but when I cross teh george washington bridge from there own out all the way to the west coast pacific is DS terratoriy. IF you guys really want to see how succesful and how popular the psp is then you guys should come down to nyc. DS only sucks in NYC but its the best handheld anywhere else however the psp sucks everywhere in America excpet for the ghettos and slums of NYC. TRUST me go to the projects and you see drug dealers playing wireless lan madden with each other. PSP is only succesful in NY.

Let's see...I don't own a PS2, I own a GameCube and I own a DS Lite. Yeah, clearly I love Sony and I hate Nintendo.

I think Nintendo should stop riding on the back of Mario, Princess Peach, and their other characters...
These poor game characters should be retired by now.

Ironically, I used to support Nintendo when they were at risk, during the Xbox/PS2 era.

Now, they don't need my support.

Now, Sony needs my support.

My wish is to see all three players stay in business.

Finally, I am 100% certain Wii is going to disappoint and underwhelm a lot of people when it comes out.

Regarding the 360 sales numbers and projections of total shipments, you have to account for worldwide, not just the US. Microsoft has been saying they're on target, which I have to believe, because I've never known them to be too wild with their numbers. If they weren't, expect to see price reductions or new bundles to make their numbers.

Keep in mind NPD numbers are based on estimated numbers, not actual total numbers.

Also, the list seems to indicate, the lower priced items move more, which will be interesting once the PS3 and Wii become available. If this trends holds, the Wii should do well.

WOW MS is being *humiliated* by sony, look at those PS2 vs xbox1.5 numbers!! And this with MSs strongest selling game to date out this month... Just imagine what will happen when PS3 comes out and all those impatient people who were buying PS2 on impulse can get what they really want, a PS3... not to mention all those who have preordered or are patiently holding out for HD gaming... its going to be a bloodbath! What will be interesting is to see how what kind of spike happens in 1080p TVs at that time, I bet they will have at least triple normal sales.
