Rockstar's Soft Serve tour in Philly tonight [update 1]

Not sure what to expect? Check out pictures from the Miami, Orlando, and Tampa stops. Not helping? Check out the featured artists who'll be, uh, arting at the event. Still not sure? There's going to be Table Tennis tournaments. Yup, the show isn't just about the uber-hip art world, but it's also about the uber-nerdy video game world and, try as Rockstar may to meld the two, we're like oil and vinegar, baby! We'll come together for little events like this, then be on our separate ways, back to our artist's communes/parent's basements respectively.
[Update: added event details.]

IslandLife @ Aug 11th 2006 10:31AM
Ahhh the good ole days of slinging back a few stitchies at Dirty Franks, hanging out at McGillans and dinner at Valanni's. I miss Philly :(
Alex Keen @ Aug 11th 2006 10:59AM
Damn... if only I could figure a way to convince my girl to go to this after the Phillies game. ;)
Harry @ Aug 11th 2006 10:59AM
I'll be hitting up the Columbus show on the 15th. Anyone Else?
dmbrandon @ Aug 11th 2006 11:23AM
Dude! I'm so there.
Is there a cost?
puh_fifer @ Aug 11th 2006 11:25AM
Is there a cost and what time is it at? I have to drive 2 hours from Scranton so I hope it starts later.

Joystiq does not reflect the video game community as a whole. You should just stick to speaking for yourself rather than the millions of gamers in the world.
Revray @ Aug 11th 2006 11:39AM
Man, I have got to respond to this last post by pancake brain or whatever.
I have lurked on here for a while, laughing on idiotic responses such as this, but man this is too much for me. Do you SEE any statments that Joystiq says that they represent the whole gaming community. Is a blog NOT about opinion? My dear SWEET Lord, remove the stick from your rear, take a dump to clear out the constipation in your brain, which I assume is located in your nether regions, and take their comments as their opinion.
I find it WICKED funny when people light up Joystiq about their views on the video game world, about what systems the like and are against, and what stories they put up. It's like people treat this site as CNN and they should have a "moral responsibility" to post the right and relevant information, as well as being unbiased. Take a deep breath and be ok with the fact that THIS IS A OPINION BLOG.
Damn the man, down with the empire and all that jazz.

Guess PancakesHouse is a super-hipster. My apologies then.
dmbrandon @ Aug 11th 2006 11:44AM
Hey uhh... Grant. Stop saying sorry, and answer our questions!!! >_< (please)
dmbrandon @ Aug 11th 2006 11:46AM
nvm. You're the best!
Alex Keen @ Aug 11th 2006 11:50AM
Bah... I sucked at Table Tennis anyhow. Let's hope they do something like this for the Wii.
puh_fifer @ Aug 11th 2006 11:58AM
If I get down there I am so gonna mash on the green button and whip you Grant. Are you going to be wearing an obvious Joystiq shirt to find you?
George @ Aug 11th 2006 12:00PM
Too bad I already have 2nd row Phillies tickets at 50 bucks each!!!! I love Rockstar's TableTennis! I would sooo be there.
Abbas @ Aug 11th 2006 12:03PM
I'll be at the San Fran event, especially for the tourney.
C. Grant @ Aug 11th 2006 1:01PM
puh_fifer, I'll be the tall skinny dude with the JOystiq shirt. Indeed.
rocko @ Aug 11th 2006 7:07PM
you see, this is the same thing that happened with Video Games Live, and that other Video Game symphony: ANNOUNCING EVENTS IN PHILLY MERE HOURS BEFORE IT BEGINS DOES NOT HELP 92% OF US SURROUNDING JOYSTIQ READERS!!
dmbrandon @ Aug 11th 2006 9:43PM
Dear Joystiq,
Thanks for putting the wrong address. The rampid run-around my friends and I had was undoubtedly the best time ever.
btw.. It was a bunch of scene kids, with hardcore T's, and sleeve tattoos, sitting around getting high.
I played no video games.
However!! I had some bitchin BBQ! Free hotdogs, hamburgers, and random assorted 'salads.'
Huzzah.
teh art was lame.
The guy who ran the place was beast... He offered us free beer, (Well, it was free to everyone, he just
said to help ourselves) but we opted for the generic canned Cola!
Sincerely,
diem!
windsor b @ Aug 12th 2006 8:32AM
i had fun, thanks for the beer and BBQ, rockstar
dmbrandon @ Aug 13th 2006 11:21AM
Rockstar didn't offer you anything. Jinxed Clothing provided all the food and drinks.
Rockstar, you are a POS. A big ole bus, and nothing but T-shirts...
