Hmmm
Hot but dumb or smart but unattractive.
As far as game consoles go, I'll choose the latter.

I just found this spoof just insanely hillarious 'cos everything is true and both chicks quite represent the systems well. I couldn't help but laugh at Wii personified... I could see my Wii acting like that if it became a human: "I'm cheap, AND fun!"

I didn't think it was good/funny. Made both the PS3 and Wii look bad IMO. Also, what was with the part where the PS3 said something like "If you can figure out what buttons to push" as if the PS3 has the most complex controller in the world. Though this ad was supposed to be in favor of the Wii, it made it look like what the uneducated poor people had to get.

Fun and cheap FTW.

What I save on the console, I can use on more games for the system, simple as that.

#4 -- I've had several people say they didn't want to play games because they felt the controller was too complex. The number of buttons does bar entry to new gamers, especially older ones.

I think it's poking fun at how bad the Apple ads are... We're cool(see Hipster Actor), they suck(see Dumpy Actor). In the end it look's bad for both systems... Where the cool girl with the brains and the body(360)?

I'm not so sure that this commercial is pro-Wii, but it is a nice comical look at the differences between the consoles. However, the "cheap and fun" line almost had me yelling, "SOOOOOOLD!" to my computer screen.

This spoof actually made me like the PS3 more than the Wii.

I was just waiting for the Wii to go, "I am le tired."

If their respective processing powers were represented by their strength the Wii would have trouble lifting a sheet of paper while the PS3 could tear down buildings. Also, the Wii would look kind of blurry because it is stuck in standard definition. Oh, and the Wii can play DVDs.... if you buy an attachment.

I'm not saying that the PS3 is the better system, just that it is technologically far superior to the Wii.

Anthropomorphism and technology just don't mix.

I remember that spoof is actually from G4. It aired as a segue to a commercial on "Attack of the Show". So I guess maybe G4 can be funny sometimes.

I wouldn't describe the ps3 as frumpy. And I wouldn't describe the Wii as shallow. The ad creators might have missed the mark there.

But I would describe the xbox 360 as ready, willing, and able, like a good wife that loves her man.

I think the Wii is more of a girlfriend next door. And the ps3 is a big commitment of time and money, aka high maintenance, without an immediate return on investment.

How about a Mac spoof ad of Joystiq vs. Gamespot?

This is supposed to be entertainement, correct?

Aren't videogames supposed to be a little bit of 'dumb fun'?

If I want a pretentious gaming experience where graphics reign supreme and costs run very high I'll stick to PC gaming.

(and ANYONE who launches a console that thinks they can one-up PCs in sheer power should at least try to enjoy the 3-6 months that they DO lead)

...10 year life cycle. Man, that's still funny. Imagine if Nvida or ATI said the same thing...

Perfect. Nintendo couldn't have paid for a better piece of advertising. This is something that everyone can relate to. I'm as gay as the day is long and even I'd take Miss Hottie Good Time and stiff arm the Six Hundred Dollar Gorilla.

No offense to the lovely actress who portrayed said gorilla. I'm sure she has a wonderful personality, but she smells like a third wheel.

Nah, of course not, if Wii gets represented by a girl, it would be one of those chicks who dont wear make up, use the same shirt everyday and dont take any care at all of their teeth, plus sometimes she'll look ugly as sin, dont you remember thats? the "graphics dont matter" attitude. Also for no reason she would be a kindergarten teacher.

Also her vagina will be somewhere in the back, because she is "innovative" and all.

Amazing, still the Ken fanboys are in damage control. LOL!

Lighten up people! You'll get wrinkles early if you're too serious!

But sadly, I think the situation here will be the same if it were the Wii that was made fun of (or even the 360). Actually I expect "damage control" version of this video soon.

Ah well, it was a nice and fun video. Too bad for those who took it seriously...

to #24 Azrael

I think you're really underestimating the graphics here, if that's what the Wii looks like, then all the other previous-gen consoles would look multiliated.

The Wii would be low maintanence, always available irregardless of circumstance, doesn't have a graduate's diploma but gets the job done. (and often in ways you didn't notice.) (but not yet in the industry. Wait a little more..)

The XBox 360 would be recently graduated and have more technical skills overall. There is the occasional downtime when the computer crashes, but does some remarkable powerpoint slides. (and naturally asks for a higher pay)

The PS3 would be about to get it's doctorate, and has all the technical skills you could ever ask for (and some which you don't really need).. but the asking salary is rather high. Occasionally gets too technical for it's own good.

OMG, for all the ppl making negative comments and with their "fall predictions", STFU! This is a skit, something that's supposed to make you laugh! This video is in no way intended to be a talking point for the next generation of systems. Can't the Ken-boys be a little mature and admit it was funny? I'm sure some fanboy will retaliate with a video comparing a hummer h2 to a vibrating bicycle or something.

Sheesh.
And people wonder why video gamers have a reputation for being horny 14 year old boys and emotionally stunted 30-somethings.

At least we've discovered there's a niche market for porn that personifies video game consoles as low self-esteem, eager to please, self-lobotomized, bleach blond dim bulbs.

I'm going to take ..'s advice and go outside.

Why are people over-analyzing this video? It's not a genuine commercial; it's a SPOOF. As in a hoax, fake, making fun, ha ha ha. Of course they are making both products look silly; that's the entire point of the video! I find it utterly amusing and sad that people are taking this way too seriously.

The easy rebuttal for PS3 would be to just make them into guys. The PS3 would be a big, strong, smart, and rich man, and the wii would be a small, skinny, stupid, hillbilly. and then at the end, they would ask (in a sarcastic voice) "which would your girl rather play with?"

You know what's weird? Microsoft released 360 a year early to get ahead of the competition, but now people hardly regard them as competition at all. It's only PS3 v. Wii, the only time 360 is ever brought up is pretty much by being made fun of.
