Looks ugly to me. The first ps2 model wasnt exactly good looking either. Also looks huge but I dont care as I will never buy one unless the price goes to $200., Even then it probably wont be worth it just like psp

Japannese love small consoles. This is one of the reasons why the Original Xbox bombed in Japan.

Now we have a PS3 that is even bigger than xbox360 ???

All this just reminds me of how Nintendo actively did everything possible to lose it's crown post the SNES days.

It's good to see somebody found a use for the 360 as PS3 stand. Eventough the PS3 is big, it has style and it looks like it's worth it's pricetag, on the other hand the 360 looks like a cheap plastic cinder block.

If you look closely at all of the pictures, you see that the PS3's not really all THAT much bigger. It's a bit bigger, but still the coolest looking system of them all, not to mention the best. And anyway, size is no reason not to buy a system, let alone the PS3.

LOL at the xbox fans saying PS3 is huge. If you take the 360 power brick, and tape it to the side of the 360, it equals 1 inch bigger than the PS3. So yeah, the 360 is still bigger than the PS3.

@cap-n-crunch#17
Except for that the PS3 power connection is clearly marked as "AC" which is Alternating Current, which is what you plug INTO a PSU which converts it to DC - Direct Current. So basically you believe that the PS3 uses an externat to convert AC to AC and then from AC to DC internally? What next? Magic?

Except for every piece of evidence contradicting your theory, you might be right. I do assume you also subscribe to the Aliens visiting earth and anal-probing-people-theory?

Cap-n-crunch,

Those are some interesting comments on the site you posted. I can't believe all of it, but the comments about the external power supply do make sense. That is why the 360's is, they woulda had to make it very large to not run into overheating problems.

I'm not a fanboy, I enjoy gaming on any platform. I hope things turn out good for the PS3, I love the GT and MGS series! I'm very happy with my 360 tho! :)

Hey, BMWM3P, look at the bright side. You can also use your PS3 as a home heater and/or fire starter, since if the power supply is still internal, it's going to melt after 8 or so hours of use.

From the Kokatu article mentioned above:
"Phantom Insider says: And now we have been told that the powersource might be an external 400 watt unit after all
Phantom Insider says: instead of internal as promised

Red says: interesting

Phantom Insider says: The current designs despite having vents all over the place apparently still cant dissipate the heat to sufficient levels"

Which, amazingly, is what I've been saying all along since I have a friend who's been working on trying to make the damn thing. (One advantage to having old college buddies now around the world.)

And Vidguy - Beware the Knights of Ni!

That notched out section on the front just screams 70s technology. It really looks like one of those $20 floor sweeping gizmos that doesn't use electricity but just kind of brushes the debris into some onboard pan? It reminds me of an old RCA Selectavision player from the 80s...Well you know I'm old now.

Good lord, when are you people going to get over the fact that all of the slides, specs, and pictures that featured the old dual HDMI model were of unfinished specs which were what, one, almost two years in advance?

Don't the words "These specifications are subject to change at any time without prior notification" mean anything to you?

They are already massproducing the PS3. Do you believe that they will now, with what, 50k+ units already made (just a guess) will say: "yeah, let's scrap those and redo the design!".

But of course you will refuse to believe that. That's fine. You can believe anything you want. I prefer facts, not fiction. Show me some FACTS and I will gladly change my opinion.

Now how about some actual facts? Pictures? I mean, with your ninja skills in "seducing" my mom, you must be able to get into the manufacturing facilities where they are assembling the PS3's.

At least make a convincing fake box and post some blurry pictures of it.

I love the way it looks, and it does stack on top of the 360 pretty good as well. What you have to remember is that sony is the ONLY company to actually make a smaller version of there current gen console, and even include extras on the smaller version(modem). The linked website only has hateful things to say about the ps3, try linking to neutral websites next time...

To think that system looks good, you must be a true fanboy. It's ugly! Simple. It's bloated, it's not sleek. It's huge, it's not small. The best thing is black gloss finish. But why would you like looking at a system that looks like an overweight kid. Sorry, but Sony really screwed up this design. Wonder how the Japs are gonna take it.

"Wonder how the Japs are gonna take it."

It was designed by Japanese, I'm sure they will dig it. Generally, they have a keen eye for interesting design and art. The PS3 looks very cool indeed.

Also, I haven't asked, but I'm pretty sure the Japanese don't like being called "Japs".

RazorElite - most of them are.

BMWM3P, who disgraces his namesake, is just like Clint. Or possibly Clint. Every post he makes has PS3 glasses on. If it is 360 or Wii related he bashes. If it is PS3 related he praises. I've never once seen him say anything positive about the competition or negative about the PS3. It's odd.

Some people here, such as BMWM3P and Clint, have called the PS3 "a work of art," which is just creepy. To call any of these a work of art is frightening. But the PS3 looks like a bloated whale, it's definitely the ugliest of the three. The 360 actually looks pretty good, sleek and somewhat stylish, lightyears above what we had last generation (all three were hideous last generation.) The Wii looks subtle and subdued. The PS3 is really the only one trying to demand attention at all times.

In the end, though, who cares? Is anyone here actually buying the system based on looks?

1.) You don't have to buy that add-on dvd drive cough cough Microshaft
2.) You don't have that big brick to stick in a freezer to cool. Don't forget that you have to have a freezer to store your power supply in with your Xbox.
