As large and rabid as this design's following seems to be, I don't know if that'll be enough to help it clear the hurdle that is the copyright and intellectual property clause in the Threadless ToS.

It's definitely a reference to 2001. The NES controller is the monolith, get it?

I wouldn't mind the same style shirt with a Wiimote for the monolith and several Donkey Kongs "getting to know themselves" a la opening scene of Mel Brooks' History of the World Part I...

You know, it's really sad when trolls don't even bother trying anymore.

For the actual pic... presuming they can get the rights to the DK and controller images, that is one sweet-looking shirt. It'd also look nice in red and orange or brown and white.

As a part-time t-shirt designer myself, I can say that this one will bring about some intellectual property issues. However, I've jumped through some hoops before to secure permissions for various designs, so perhaps Nintendo will be willing to sign off on this one due to its ridiculously sweet quality.

Being a Nintendo and Arthur Clarke fan myself, I'd totally wear this.

The shirt is refering to "Also sprach Zarathustra," by Richard Strauss, the main theme of 2001: A Space Odyssey. It is the music that plays while the monkeys freak out over the Monolith.

And Strauss' title "Also sprach Zarathustra" was in itself a reference to Nietzsche. Maybe that's why people are incorrectly assuming the name of the design (which is quite rad) is a reference to Nietzsche.

Well, the guy could always release a high res version of the art, and we can put thm on t-shirrts ourselves.

Problem solved.
