Late last week, a story emerged about a possible PSP price cut being planned for this holiday in an attempt to jumpstart sales for Sony's handheld system. But according to a Sony UK spokesperson, a price cut is not currently being planned."Currently, we have no plans to cut the price of the PSP at this time," the spokesperson told GamesIndustry.biz. The reason for the belief of a pending price cut comes from Sony "stockpiling finished gaming hardware, which analysts believe to be the PSP (PlayStation Portable). That, they believe, is a signal that the company plans to reduce the price of the PSP as the holidays get closer."
In speaking with CNN's Chris Morris, P.J.McNealy of American Technology Research said he expects Sony to cut the PSP by $50 or bundle the system with a couple games.
Keep in mind, however, this doesn't mean a price cut isn't on the horizon. Many times video game companies refute similar stories only to go back on their word weeks later.
