Ever get the feeling you're being watched? Ever have a sneaking suspicion that someone or something is watching your every move? Ever think there's a device of some sort that's tracking your movements and converting your likeness into a digital doppleganger for the amusement of art festival patrons?Well, um, if you answered yes to that third question, you might actually be right -- that is, if you walked by the Zero One art festival in San Jose. The San Jose Mercury News has details on a project , titled "SIMVeillance: San Jose," that shows two side-by-side monitors: one with real time surveillance footage, the other with Sims characters modeled after some of the people caught on camera.
Making a digital version of yourself is probably familiar territory for most Sims players, but having a camera generate "a little shadow of yourself," as the artist puts it, adds a little bit of a creep factor to the whole thing. How do you feel about tiny, digital versions of you running around in games?
