Ever since Reggie received his big promotion, we haven't seen him in the news much. We're Reggie fans here and can assure you that our posteriors ache on a daily basis and somewhere deep within Reggie's coat pocket he has a piece of paper with all of our names scribbled on it. This is fact. The interview, which contains the usual talk of Nintendo aiming at bringing new gamers into the fold and creating an easily approachable experience that is not intimidating to people from all walks of life, does talk a bit about the company's goals in the online arena. Most importantly, free, out-of-the-box online gameplay. An excerpt from the interview:
Q: How do you extend your online strategy to Wii?
A: It's the same premise. We will offer online-enabled games that the consumers will not have to pay a subscription fee for. They'll be able to enjoy that right out of the box. The Wii console is going to be Wi-Fi enabled, so essentially, you'll be able to plug it in and go. It won't have hidden fees or costs.
