More Lego games planned, says Star Wars developer

Computer & Video Games is reporting that the next issue of British magazine PC Zone contains an interview with Traveler's Tales development director Jonathan Smith in which he confirms the company is planning more games based on combining the Lego license with established films. Traveler's Tales is the company behind Lego Star Wars, the surprise hit that has already spawned an announced sequel/prequel covering the original trilogy of movies.
The C&VG article doesn't mention which movies will be Lego-fied, but the author is clearly hoping some sort of Lego Indiana Jones is in the pipeline. What film (or game) franchises do you think would benefit from the Lego treatment?

Oh man the possibilities are endless for this. Lord of the rings lego games, Jurassic Park lego games, Any of the comic book movies, just goes on and on with what you could make.
ktmracer @ Aug 16th 2006 1:31PM
Pirates of the Carribean
Days of Thunder
Mad Max
Top Gun
Mission Impossible
Any James Bond
Michael @ Aug 16th 2006 1:38PM
I still think Lego Island is the best lego game ever.
Dr.Swiss @ Aug 16th 2006 1:39PM
HAHAHAHAHA @ ktmracer's post.
Lego Mad Max would simply rock.

G-Force Lego
I had a ton of fun re-playing G-Force through my Legos... but then again, that was 25years ago. It's kinda funny how well StarWars has aged compared to others.
Derbeste @ Aug 16th 2006 1:40PM
I'd rather see them combine legos with current game franchises:
1. Lego Zelda
2. Lego Castlevania
3. Lego Mario
4. Lego MGS
5. Lego Metroid
6. Lego FF7...oh wait. It practically already was.
Jose @ Aug 16th 2006 1:42PM
How about a Lego Bridges of Madison County? That Meryl Streep is a fox.
frodo @ Aug 16th 2006 1:43PM
Considering the choice to make Lego Star Wars was most likely based on the fact that there are actual Lego Star Wars toys in meatspace, I'd say Harry Potter is next.
GlitchCog @ Aug 16th 2006 1:43PM
Lego Fifth Element

What about Lego Tetris
spelling nazi @ Aug 16th 2006 1:48PM
maybe they can finally make a good game based on "The Matrix" - could it be possible?
dvdguy @ Aug 16th 2006 1:50PM
Lego Pulp Fiction
32_Footsteps @ Aug 16th 2006 1:54PM
Whoa there, Spelling... a good Matrix game? That's crazy talk.
I'd also anticipate that they'd do a Lego game based on a license Lego already has. Of course, judging by the Lego Batwing in my living room, I think the Lego Batman game would be the best guess.
Of course, that's presuming we don't see Lego Spider-Man (there have been sets for the first two Spidey movies, and I'd expect some for the third as well).
And it wouldn't surprise me if Lego's license with DC Comics allowed for Lego Superman or Lego Justice League.
And finally, I've been seeing ads for Lego SpongeBob Squarepants. I wouldn't play it, but I could see it becoming a game.
ZENegade @ Aug 16th 2006 1:54PM
This report is from a Star Wars developer? If there are more ties with George Lucas for an upcoming Lego game, I'm hoping for...
Howard the Lego Duck
Steve @ Aug 16th 2006 1:55PM
Lego Snakes on a Plane
Chessasaur @ Aug 16th 2006 1:55PM
An on-line MMO Lego world where everyone gets to build stuff? Maybe even an RPG fantasy Lego world where you get new pieces instead of treasure? Just no micro-transactions to buy more sets of pieces lol!
T-Bag @ Aug 16th 2006 1:57PM
Can these developers please grow up and make a game similar to what they had done on the n64. I believe the game was called Shadows of The Empire or something. That game was freaking amazing.
gwangi @ Aug 16th 2006 1:58PM
LEGO Back to the Future

LEGO Transformers! Holy mother of God YES!
Exo @ Aug 16th 2006 2:06PM
I dont know if it can be slaped onto any franchise. I think it works so well with star wrs because of the force powers and such.

Looking at this post makes me think that LEGO + any movie would work... well... at least in theory... I'd kill to see LEGO versions of movies. But as far as playing them... I dunno...
But combining LEGO with existing games would be golden.
Sam Goldman @ Aug 16th 2006 2:15PM
Lego Dark City!!
Karen @ Aug 16th 2006 2:22PM
Lego Batman
Lego Star Trek
J.Goodwin @ Aug 16th 2006 2:24PM
I think that Pirates would be a good match, as there had already been a kind of Pirates themed lego toy at one point. Lord of the Rings would be the same since there have always been lego castles.
You pretty much would have to stay on with the adventure type movies though. And LOTR and Harry Potter ain't happening, given that EA has those licenses locked up. Which is really too bad, because they would almost certainly be better games.
J.Goodwin @ Aug 16th 2006 2:27PM
Batman is already a LEGO licensed property. We could definitely see LEGO Batman.
ChimpManZee @ Aug 16th 2006 2:32PM
Planet of the Apes!
Plan Nine From Outer Space!
John C @ Aug 16th 2006 2:32PM
Lego Dark City might be the best idea I've ever heard.
Who's down for some Lego Dark Crystal?
james f. @ Aug 16th 2006 2:33PM
Chime in with a ditto for #12
Lego Pulp Fiction would rule the universe!
as would
Lego Kill Bill
Dracula Jones @ Aug 16th 2006 2:40PM
Lego Forbidden Zone! Lego Flash and Lego Gramps beating a Lego gorilla to death would be the greatest thing ever.
Agent MOO @ Aug 16th 2006 2:43PM
"Did you see a sign on my garage that said 'dead lego storage'?"
Arturis @ Aug 16th 2006 3:10PM
There is a Multiplayer "Block" (cant say Lego due to copyrights) Game that has been in beta for awhile. You can find more info at http://www.blockland.us/ - I had a server running about a year ago, and my brother would sign on and build stuff while I was at work, and vice versa. It was definately a blast.
Come to think of it, Ill have to get back into this... ^_^
Drake Lake @ Aug 16th 2006 3:17PM
If they are going to make more Lego games, I hope they someday make one similar to what Blockland does.
If you know what I am talking about, you probably agree.
Drake Lake @ Aug 16th 2006 3:19PM
Oh nice, look what happens for not refreshing, heh.
Snurp @ Aug 16th 2006 4:13PM
Lego Scarface anyone?
fat boy @ Aug 16th 2006 4:24PM
I want Lego Hostel and Lego All Quiet On the Western Front.
Scalpel @ Aug 16th 2006 4:30PM
How about these?
Reservoir Legos
Fear and Loathing in Lego Vegas
Lego 28 Days
Gonzo @ Aug 16th 2006 4:45PM
Well my favorite choices have been mentioned so far: Lego Harry Potter, Lego LOTR, Matrix, and Lego Pulp Fiction. I'd also like to see maybe an anime or two make it to legoland. Lego DBZ is obvious and maybe so is Lego Akira and Lego Bebop but what I'd love to see more than anything is Lego Urotsukioji. The only Lego game to be rated AO.
Lego Bruce Lee would be cool too. Take a couple of his films like Enter the Dragon and Fists of Fury and make a game out of it.
KilgoreTrout XL @ Aug 16th 2006 4:53PM
1. The Cook, The Theif, His Wife and Her Lego Collection
2. Lego of the Flies
3. Sex, Lies and Legos
4. Legoz 'n da Hood
5. Raiders of the Lego
6. Creature from the deep Lego-oon
7. Lego eggo Waffles and the- oh WTF. This is idiotic...
Erik @ Aug 16th 2006 4:57PM

Jamie @ Aug 17th 2006 5:36AM
OMG OMG OMG!
Lego Kill Bill!
I want a lego pussy wagon now.
In fact... why hasn't anyone made a kill bill game yet? Oh yeah... red steel is out soon.
Marty @ Aug 17th 2006 8:31AM
"Lego 28 Days" scapel.? who wants to play a lego game about rehab??? Just kidding.
Anyways, Indie would be awesome lego style (perhaps it can actually be a great game) As for Spiderman, don't mess with something that is working.
I think what needs to be legofied is GTA. Seriously, how popular would the game be if it was exactly the same without the unneeded violence and sex? Hmmm... wait, I guess that is all the game is!
Kel @ Aug 17th 2006 9:21AM
I think the Lord of the Rings makes the most sense, but Lego already turned down the licence because they felt the movie was too dark for kids. Who knows if they would change their minds for a computer game.
Lego Harry Potter makes sense ... but I'd like to see a Lego Knights Kingdoms (based on their own property) with an epic story a la Ultima VII/Baldur's Gate type of thing.
Dman @ Aug 22nd 2006 9:21PM
Ooo Lego metroid prime that sounds cool. They should also make... actully i can't think of anything you all took my ideas.
