Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom previewed
Game Informer was recently treated to a firsthand preview of Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom, the PlayStation 3's hack and slash substitute for a next-gen Champions of Norrath. It would seem Champions builder Snowblind has been preoccupied with JLA hotties Wonder Woman and Zatanna for the past year, but hopefully, Sony still has plans to give its console community some next-gen Firiona Vie love.Regarding Dark Kingdom, I'm not terribly excited about the projected 18-20 hours of gameplay (didn't SOE read the Seven Sorrows reviews?), and the visuals are lacking a certain $600 console polish. Dark Kingdom's trailer boasts of "brilliant next-gen HD graphics", but right now, the game doesn't look that much prettier than its PSP brethren.
And lest you think Sony forgot about that whole downloadable content gimmick, gamers with money to burn will be able to purchase a fourth character class, as well as additional maps and stages. Dark

This series pales in comparison to Norrath and Dark Alliance. I wish somebody would pick up where Black Isle and Snowblind left off. What a shame to let such good franchises die.

Looks good. I liked the previous two... the PS3 version is looking pretty good so far. I will purchase.

Umm..those videos were OBVIOUSLY from a shaky-cam off an lcd panel.

Wow! A whole three character classes to pick from in the retail version of the game? That's not even enough to cover the maximum of four online players. lame for a next gen title.
18-20 hrs. is nothing more than a weekend rental, I'll save my $60 and play the Dark Alliance games again, thanks.

Why is it that Kameo, a game originally developed for the Gamecube, is comparible to Untold Legends, a game built from the ground up on the PS3?! Kameo is even better in some circumstances. It has a vastly superior draw distance, as well as 100's more NPC's on screen at once. How can you justify a $600 purchase?

So wait,
Sony is purposely leaving out a 4th class, so you can pay for it on top of the normal price of the game? Where have i heard this before?
I'm sure this is somehow MS's fault.

to 6.
I noticed that, too... People complain that Xbox Live Marketplace is ripping off users. It appears that this material will be available at launch, so why can't they put the content on those huge Blu-ray discs? I thought that was the whole purpose of Blu-ray!

Disappointing. The Wii can do those kinds of graphics. Considering the high price of games, 18-20 hours is a joke.

how many rubber ducks are in this one again?

The main reason would be simply because these developers are not as good as the developers that created Kameo (Rare). As for you second question, this game alone can't justify the $600 purchase, but there are still other games that can.
Just a suggestion, but if you havn't played Kameo on a HDTV, (I do think you probably have though) you should really try it out and see just how good the HD textures are in it.

can't wait to get it
donnie @ Aug 16th 2006 11:03PM
Can't wait for a mediocre, overpriced, last-gen, weak-ass replacement for Norrath, eh, Anta?

You would.

Considering how it looks like it'll play on the latest videos I saw, this game should really be remade into a beat-em-up style game, it basically already is. It just lacks the classic beat-em-up interface.
Graphically it looks really sweet, the gameplay however, looks like frickin crap as it is now. They still have a month perhaps to cram some goodness into it and hopefully they do.

You say fanboys dont make good marketers a few articles above............. but they make good gaming journalists right?
Idiots.

Ahhh, I'm not much of a sony fan, but I dig these dungeon crawls with a buddy or two and a cooler of beer near the couch [BG: dark alliance I & II, Xmen Legends.]
This is the first PS3 game I've seen that looks like a good time to me.

I don't know anything about this game, but that title is awful. Crappy forgettable titles suggest crappy forgettable games. Lets just get it out of out system:
Dark Shadows: Lightless Obfuscation
King of Kingdoms: Monarch's Reign
War Battles: Combat Until Victory
Prophecy: Legendary Myths
Gods of Unborn Forgotten Legends...Dark...Zone
*vomit*
Ahhh. I feel much better now.
