Dangit! Sonic was such a great title! I guess it is in the spirit of the Wii to originally have a cool sounding name, then change it last minute into something not as good.

Oh come on. Wildfire wasn't a great name to begin with, but it's leauges better than this. 'Sonic and the Secret Rings' sounds like a children's storybook.

Man, what a terrible name! Wildfire was so freaking COOL! sigh...Sega, you know you just lost a lot of potential sales from "on-a-whim" buyers...

Actually, it makes me rather intrigued...I am dying to know about these rings and why they are so secretive. Maybe they contain the answer to the ultimate question of the life, the universe, and everything. Maybe they represent Sonic's secret struggle inside to make it as a blue hedgehog in a white hedgehog's world. Release your secrets to me, oh Sega!

I wonder if part of the reason was due to the abundance of products already available that use the name wildfire. The first that comes to mind is the jabber IM server: http://www.jivesoftware.org/wildfire/

I do think that the old name was a lot more fun, but such is life. I only hope the game turns out to be fun and worth my money. :)

I don't know... Sonic Wildfire sounded pretty generic. Are there, in fact, wild fires in the game? I doubt that there are.

And #4, I'm pretty sure that question has been answered: 47!

Whew, I'm a feed reader. I thought the game was canceled. >_>;

Eh, it's an alright name. Kinda kiddy sounding if you ask me though.

Though the name Sonic Wildfire did sound pretty generic, I thought it was because of the Arabian Nights setting that it was called Wildfire. Secret Rings? Well, I've never read all 1,001 stories (heck the only one I know is Aladdin, and the Disney one at that), so I wouldn't know if there's an Arabian Nights story that deals with Secret Rings. Wildfire had a more "cool" factor to it either way.

While reading the title I thought you meant the game was canceled.

Dude, when I saw "No more Wildfire" on the headline for WiiFanboy, I was like "THEY DID NOT CANCEL IT!?!?!!1"

Phew... They didn't cancel it at least. I don't care about the title really, I just want the game.

I don't really care about the name. If I frequently visit WiiFanboy, you can't expect me to get agitated over a lame name.

The Wildfire are the flaming Orbs you collect in order to fill up your wildfire gauge, witch in turn allows you to perform specail attacks such as an immpressive Wildfire Boost. Wildfire plays the same role in Wildf... ughh, 'The Secret Rings' and the Rush bar played in Sonic Rush. Sonic Rush had a Rush Gauge = Sonic Rush. Therefore, methinks that they should have kept the name.

Maybe they save this title for other ambisious game? They saw that this game doesn't deserve it... But it's just my opinion.
P.S. What a screen above?

Let's hope it really is about drugs, and they make it sorta like GTA. Where you run around a city, rolling into people and stealing their money for prostitutes and drugs and stuff.

I like the name change. Kind says that sonic team is going in maybe a different direction with sonic. Maybe more of an adventure instead of nostop robot killing action.

I thought they canceled it fer a sec there. D:

scary. : (

but yeah the new name, its alright, i dont really care about the name, i mean, zelda "Twilight Princess" that sounds like we're playing Pretty Pony and prancing around in the twilight with Princess *insert Japanese name* with her long purple hair and... i'll stop.

but yeah, the name isn't that bad, its all secretive, and we all love secrets... except the Wii release date secret, we're all kinda tired of that one.

new name = cool.

At first I was bummed about the name change...Sonic Wildfire is pretty cool...rolls off the old tongue, eh?

Still...the videos I've seen of this game look fun...and not bad looking at all for "only" a Wii title...if we hadn't had the Wildfire name and then had it changed I don't think anyone would have a problem with the Secret Rings name...it promises a deep, involved adventure rather than a just a quick, mindless running game don't you think?
